problems with Receptor Remote

I'm having problems with Receptor Remote being unable to consistently connect to the hardware.

I am using a MacBook Pro, OS 10.4.10, and a Receptor Pro connected through a Netgear 5-port gigabit switch/router. I also have a Mac Mini and a PC connected for network MIDI, but in my current scenario these are not in use. I have everything set for manual IP addressing, and I went with the range of IP addresses that the Receptor defaulted to when I used it in Crossover mode -

Receptor 192.168.254.253
MacBook Pro 192.168.254.254

NetMask on both 255.255.255.250
No router specified on the Mac Network setup.

Often when I boot up everything for the day, Uniwire usually works (host is DP5), smb file sharing usually works, but Receptor Remote refuses to connect. I futz around, re-set the addresses on one or both machines, reboot Receptor, eventually it works. Haven't found a specific recipe yet...

Any thoughts or advice on setting up addressing, booting order for the machines, voodoo incantations?

Hi Briggity,

I'm not sure if this makes a difference. You mentioned previously that you used it in "crossover mode" (I think you mean connecting the Mac and Receptor directly with a crossover cable). Do you continue using a crossover cable with the Receptor connected to the router/switch? Perhaps try a standard ethernet cable?

Just fishin,
