To get a sound from Blip you will first need to create your kit, i.e. associate a sound with each row of the grid. Then you can press on play and start composing / drawing in real-time (or not if you don't want to)

To create a kit, select wave files in the kit editor (little drum icon).

You can either select files manually, or select a whole folder to fill the kit automatically in one click. You can also ask Blip to choose samples randomly on your hard disk for some crazy loops, or ask it to slice a long wave into 64 shorter samples and assign them.

If you don't know what Blip's icons are for, simply hover over them, and a short hint is displayed at the bottom of the window.
Make sure to read the pdf documentation as a lot of shortcuts and tricks are available to use the program.

Thanks

yeah i quite like that one, and your right the presets don't do it justice at all

One synth though that i've found myself playing with the most though is 'Pitch Black' by Rlma-Labs, i think it's really good, well laid out good sound and easy to tweak.

Oh has anyone checked out rasta box yet?.....it made me laugh, but it is good for the 8 bit lo-fi sounds.

I think theres some very decent entries but a lot seem to be one trick ponies aimed at a certain type of sound, which isn't a bad thing but they can get boring quite fast.

cheers

You might have to hold down shift and scroll the mouse wheel.

We'll check into issues with Alien Artifact.

Looks like the creator of Alieno had similar ideas...!!

Some quick notes before I crash...(note - everything run under eXT or standalone, as apps allowed)

Blip - 64 WAVs sliced 64 ways makes for an interesting experience. For fun, take a mp3, convert it, and let Blip slice it 64 times to fill a kit.
Notes:
WAVs must be Microsoft WAVs and not ADPCM WAV format (as I learned via Audition conversions of mp3's).
Blip didn't handle short samples in the "64 slicer". I'm not sure what the lower limit is.

The Element of Surprise - is just that. Minimalism and just plain fun. More than once I got that "save this patch!" urge.

Sounds of Nature - xoxos experiments with modeling. I tried just about all of the offering, and they were all pretty darned good.

Wavtransit - Can't get it to work in eXT. I'm sure it's a brain fart on my side. The interface is a wonder, so it can't be eye candy for its own sake. I was able to at least direct it to files I wanted to slice (seems both WAV and mp3 are recognized), but after that, nada. :help:

All of you guys in the Dev Challenge rock. :hail:
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

So, how to tell if a plugin was made with SE/SM or programmed with a coding language? It should have been indicated in some way!

hypercyclic seems/looks really cool, but midi-plugins doesn't work in logic. maybe it would work with some osx-internal midi-wiring...

and stochaton is too complicated for me.

some pc-plugs look very promising. i'm waiting for the mac-release :hihi:
Guess Najnaj is getting some of your attention then?

My synthesizer KX-Modulad is built with my modules coded in C++:
wavetracer engine, oscillators and lfos, LP filter, mixer modulation, sync clock, dadsr, distortion, waveforms displays...

I conceived this one with my modules only.

I provide a setup.exe which install a dll with sse or no sse features.

This is a final release.

100% kx sound! :D

----That would help explain the low cpu on such a beast. This is a cool one, I have to check it out some more tomorrow during "volume hours" ha-ha. :)
