That SKB Studio Flyer ad on the right looks interesting. Does anyone know if there's enough ventilation for Receptor?

i would not recommend using Receptor racked in a 2U box. Receptor will overheat.. and .. stop!

my five cents

In my experience receptor Rev. C / Pro runs significantly cooler and would probably be OK, provided the rack doesn't fit so tightly that there is no airflow around the unit.

Right now, I'm using a 2U bag, no ventilation except the sides, and have had no problems with a Rev C - but there were power issues at one club we play regularly - a less-loaded circuit worked fine.

Guy is probably right, a Rev A or Rev B Receptor will probably overheat if it is in a two rack space box with no side or bottom air intake... but that is fixable by cutting a hole in the side or bottom (believe it or not, this can be done so that it looks good if you install one of those little can guards to trim it off)...

The Rev Cs are run much cooler and as such are much more tolerant of reduced cooling situations... I have my Receptor PRO demo unit in a tiny SKB case that actually requires me to reverse the rack ears to get it to fit. Its a very tight fit, but believe it or not, the lid, which is fairly deep, still goes on and the rear panel is almost flush with the removable back panel... I'll bring it to the AES show in NYC next month if anyone wants to see it... and please visit our site if anyone needs a pass... its free to get in.

I've used it ton in this config and the exhaust air has never even gotten warm (the first sign that you have some cooling problems) even when Crowded House borrowed it for one of their shows... it was sitting in the hot sun all day long at an outside venue, then under hot stage lights during the show, and it worked like a champ... if you want to see a picture of it, send me a PM and I'll send it to you.

So I agree with Guy, probably not a good idea to run Rev A or B hardware in 2 rack spaces without doing some surgery on the case... but I'd doubt Rev Cs would cause too much a problem...

Yeah, I ran my Rev B in a 2U rack bag from Gator in a small room. No external fans were on and occasionally the rev b showed high temp (when the OS had a temp gauge on it) So I immediately took it out and have used a shallow rack 3U from Gator which has proved fine. Those gator bags have a felt liner and are tight fitting, it was a no go.

I use my rev. C in a tight 'rock case' 2u rack or as the bottom unit in my 6u, no problem with the heat. Power issues are a bigger problem, but that goes for my entire setup.

I've been turning mine off, in between sets, thinking I'm allowing it time to cool down...
Do you think I have to?
Does anyone else?
