Komplete 5 was released this week. It includes the new Massive synth and an update of Guitar Rig and Kontakt.
Gone are the Vocoder and Spectral Delay.
Will Muse be shipping Komplete 5?

Yes, pre-orderable to be shiiped two weeks from Monday.
Of course I ordered a Pro-JR with Komplete 4 yesterday. Anyone know if Komplete can be upgraded once the installer is working on a Receptor?

Unbelievable. We wait for what seems like YEARS for Komplete on Receptor, and within a few months it's obsoleted by K5.
But to be honest I can probably live without Massive, Kontakt3 and GR3 on my Receptor.
Ok, to be completely honest, Massive would be nice

You're doing better than me, I ordered a Receptor+Komplete in mid August.richwhite9 wrote:Of course I ordered a Pro-JR with Komplete 4 yesterday. Anyone know if Komplete can be upgraded once the installer is working on a Receptor?
You should get two additional installs of Komplete for other computers with your Receptor, and in my case I received an unopened set of Komplete 4 DVDs with my Receptor. Muse had created an account for me at NI, I'm still waiting for NI to get back to me on my request to merge the Receptor account with my existing one.
My guess would be that when you receive your Pro-jr/Komplete you will be able to get the free upgrade to Komplete 5 for your other two installs. It might be worth confirming this with NI ahead of time. I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to when Komplete 5 will be available for Receptor/Komplete owners or if we'll be able to do the upgrades without sending the unit back to Muse.
I will be watching anxiously to see how soon Kontakt 3 becomes available for the Receptor, and will also be watching to see how long it is before Kontakt 3 is stable and reliable...

Kontakt 3 looks sick! But why is it so hard to install Komplete 4 VSTs into my receptor pro? I already own komplete 2 and was thinking about upgrading to K5. Please help!

Here is the unfortunate picture:Hybernation wrote:Unbelievable. We wait for what seems like YEARS for Komplete on Receptor, and within a few months it's obsoleted by K5.
-- Native Instruments tries to release a new Komplete product once a year. Komplete 4 was released in October of 2006 and Komplete 5 will be released in October of 2007
-- It has taken Muse nearly a year to support Komplete 4, and this requires a Muse performed installation
Hopefully the talked about Muse OS enhancement that is supposed to support any Windows installer will rectify this situation.
The problem is that the Muse Receptor runs on its own proprietary Operating System which is not Windows XP. This gives it superior operating performance, but the downside is "normal" Windows Installer programs won't/can't run on the Muse OS, and many times the Muse OS needs to be tweaked to support specific VSTs.Talk Show Host wrote: But why is it so hard to install Komplete 4 VSTs into my receptor pro?

The official reply I got from Muse via the retailer.
<<It will be Komplete 4, but the customer will qualify for the grace period
update. We are working on an installer for 5...but it is not ready yet.>>

FYI there is a NI "Grace Period 2007" form you must complete before NI will ship you the Komplete 5 update:
http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=gp2007
The Grace Period is when Komplete 4 is sold anytime AFTER September 1, 2007

You'll be pleased to know that we received a copy of Komplete 5 a week or so ago, and intend on having Receptor with Komplete Inside ready to migrate to Komplete 5 as soon as it is released!
I know, we still don't have a way for people to install Komplete without sending their drives back to us, but we are working on that... stay tuned!

That's good news groovology. I will be interested to hear what sort of upgrade path will be available to those of us who have already purchased Receptor/Komplete units with Komplete 4 onboard. Will upgrading also require that hard drives be returned to Muse? Also, if we get our Receptors upgraded to Komplete 5 are Spektral Delay and Voktator going to be removed?

The hard part for us is getting service center installed and running on the Receptor. That's what requires returning the unit to Muse Research. Once you have service center installed on your unit, it should be possible for you to upgrade to K5 (as well as to add Massive or other NI plugs as they become available) without our help... or at least that is my understanding from engineering.
You bring up a really great point about Spektral Delay and Vokator... I don't think the upgrade removes anything... I think that you just would get three files to install that update what's already there... but you bring up a really good point; people who purchase Receptor with Komplete 5 Inside as of Oct. 1st might not have Spektral or Vokator installed in the first place...
Let me look into this and see what the story is.
Cheers

I appreciate your keeping us up to date about all this G. Since Spektral and Voktator have been discontinued I don't see why anyone buying a Komplete 5 Receptor would expect to receive them. Sometimes it pays to be an early adopter. If those two plugs will still be useable for us upgraded K4-to-K5 users this could be a strong incentive to buy a K4 Receptor while it's still available - those are both fascinating effects.
Incidentally the question of whether Spektral and Voktator will still be useable after upgrading to Komplete 5 for those running Komplete on computers has been asked on the NI forums and I haven't seen a clear answer there yet, although the assumption is that if you still have your old disks you'll be able to keep them running.
