As Douglas said on the forum, it could be the rarest sample library in existence. He says he only sold about 350 units. I have only heard positive comments about the library and the demo MP3s are amazing, so it must be due to a lack of marketing.

GregJazz, I also thought that a distribution agreement with someone else would be a good thing. In the case of Rayzoon, it would not really compete with their DrumPaks, which are very different animals. It would complement Jamstix, but the sample files would still need an external sample player, either subhosted or midi-chained.

I just got an email from Natural Studio. I'm on the list, but no decision about a production run has been made yet.

Of course, I can't speak for developers/distributors, but I can think of a few companies who would be perfectly capable and suitable for the production of NSKit7.

I mean, it would just be handling getting the DVDs printed and then handling the shipping, etc. If they took only a distribution role, customer service could still be at the NSkit website. Douglas could be concentrating on his own work, while receiving monthly payments. After all, he made the initial investment and the time to extensively sample such an incredible drum library.

I was looking at the samples again yesterday... it even comes with pre-roll samples, should you need them. The kick pedal moving noise (very audible), sticks moving through the air, etc. All those cues that make drums sound realistic.

One of the things I love the most about NSkit is how many quiet velocity layers he recorded. It's really life-like and expressive.

I was looking at the NS site yesterday and listening to the demos. They're very good. But the marketing and distribution of ns_kit seems to have been pretty shambolic - see the several threads discussing it (and making, IMO, very sound suggestions) on the NS forum.

More importantly several people on the NS forum seem to have waited many weeks or months for the DVDs, only to find some of them don't work properly. TBH it doesn't fill me with confidence, even though I'd really like to support the developer.

It sounds like there might a long wait before a production run, then a long wait for the DVDs to arrive, then they might not work and by that time NS may have completely closed shop. There were also mentions on the NS forum of people having problems obtaining a password for the sample files, and the dev not replying to emails for ages.

Sorry to sound so negative but I think the way ahead for NS would be to get a distribution deal -- surely someone like NI would be interested in adding the ns_kit material to Battery or suchlike? It seems a terrible waste for this amazing sample set to go kaput after selling less than 500 copies...

This is sad. I really liked the old NS Kits and I heard that the NSKit 7 was killer. Unfortunately I have way more drums than I need already. Actually, I still have and use the NSKit CM Edition and NSKit Free(both 6 and 7, different kits). Always great stuff.

I hope they can find a way to dig out of this. A distro deal would be great for them.

I tend to use a subset of NS7 in LinPlug RMIII (mainly because I really don't get on with HALion Player too well) and even the small number of samples I use sound fantastic. I ordered it somewhere around the beginning of this year and it took a little over a week to get to me, and I certainly have had no problems with any of the discs - I suspect that aspect may have been early teething troubles.

I'm totally in (received a confirmation email) and I really hope this second run happens - the demos sound phenomenal, and I thought the DFH C&V ones sounded great (and they do).

For crying out loud, I'd consider funding a full second pressing myself, for cost ('tho I suck at marketing).

Ditto. Why don't we start a poll, or better still a pledge list to show Douglas we're serious, and he could make himself a lump of quick cash before dropping this project completely?
