I think it's great, but I would never use it. It's too dated/eccentric of purpose.

Dude, seriously, make something other than virtual analogs for a change.

Alrighty, well I've implemented the whole 'analog behavior' bit, I've added the newest GUI elements that include a clearer switch button for the entire interface and a spelling correction, and I've also (hopefully) fixed the problem in certain hosts seeing the Oddy-Free as simply "Container" in it's list of plug names.

Sadly though I won't be able to upload anything until Friday, more than likely. :(

I will post here once I do get things straightened out and sent in.

Also, it looks like I won't be able to push out additional presets with the update, but hopefully I'll be able to send something extra out as a bonus later on. I'm still wanting to hear what all of you are doing with the Oddy anyways. ;)

Cheers,

Sounds good, Chris!

I'm sorry it's taking me a while folks. :( Between classes and trying to fix problems with my audio setup it's been a hectic few days, not to mention finding the time to fit the girlfriend into the schedule.

I'm sorting through a few patches that have been sent to me, and finishing up all the tiny kinks. I'm gonna *try* to find the time to get an upload done Monday (part of the problem is that I have to borrow a high speed connection to upload, being where I'm at I have to deal with dial-up internet. :( )

Anywho, more news to come soon.

Thanks again for your patience and your input on bugs/problems and wishlist items.

Sincerely,

Not that it matters too much now, but I got around to adapting my Odyssey GUI for Oddy-Free. I'm guessing that the feedback will most probably be "high-contrast good, anti-aliasing bad", maybe androidlove can do something with it?

Hi
Thank you for the update !
high-contrast = good
anti-aliasing = bad (& blurry) indeed
eh eh

Will the knobs be as much saturated with many colors like the previous version (and the originla hardware i guess), too ?

As things stand, this isn't going into Oddy-Free unless Chris says otherwise. I have merely put it forward as an alternative, should it be of any use. The anti-aliasing can be fixed, but since nobody asked me to make this new GUI I will not be spending any more time on it unless it is needed.

androidlove's GUI is fine, but would benefit from more subtle background texture. I will happily make the component bitmaps of mine available to anyone who wants them.

you know, if chris wants more contrast, he just has to load up the gui in a graphics editor and up the contrast.

Small update using an alternate font, still anti-aliased but quite a bit clearer. I guess I'm not the best person to judge the usability of this, since I'm very familiar with the Odyssey control panel and know where everything is.

Also I use a 19" TFT monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1024, so everything looks that much bigger and clearer.

EDIT: This version looks okay to me on a 17" screen, any better?

Am i the oly one insterested in these GUIs ?
I am sorry, MOdeler & androidLove, i first didn't realized who made the orignal skin...

I like it.
What program did you used to create it ? (I think there is still room for antialiasing optimization...)

OK, let me see if I can quell some of these concerns...

I think your background is nice Modelor, but at the moment I seriously doubt I'm gonna do anything with it. I'll pull down the image and see how it fits in the display with the elements I already have, but I'm almost positive I'm sticking with the one it's got, androidlove has done a fantastic job with it thus far and to be honest it has more texture to it.

If anyone wants to win me over with a new GUI face, try running the panel through a bumpmapping processor to catch some better lighting effect. Nothing too dramatic of course, but enough that it'd be tasteful and look a little more... well for lack of a better word "real".

I know I keep apologizing, but I promise to get the update to you all within the week. I've had a pretty shitty past few days and I've been trying to catch sleep whenever I can, which is usually whenever I would normally be able to compile the synth. I'm gonna make myself take the time this afternoon to get it compiled, where I can hopefully get it uploaded tomorrow, but no promises. I also need to get in touch and ask some folks if it's cool that I release their patches with the update, which I will do today.

Thanks again for the continued support and enthusiasm. It will be most definately rewarded once this update comes. ;)

Thanks Chris. It should line up pixel-for-pixel with the original, it was designed that way. I agree that androidlove's artwork is great and wouldn't want to piss on his bonfire, as it were. It's a matter of personal preference; I favour a more subtle use of texture.

I thing the problem here is the size of the GUI. It needs to remain small, so the more real world detail you add, the harder it'll be to read the lettering. It's a fine line, will do some experiments. :)
