Where do I select an oscillator type in the demo version?

I am trying the demo version of Zebra but cannot find any list of preset oscillator types, apart from the ones that can be created in the 'more osc' window?
Do you have to create your own or am I missing a listing somewhere?
Does the demo also play random notes when being played after a while?
Help please.

Actually, during all the beta testing of last year and everything, we simply forgot to add a set of oscillator presets. This will change with the final update to Zebra 2.2.
However, there's a bonus plugin called "Zebralette" which is just a single Zebra Oscillator (no filters etc.) with a bit of modulation and effects. This plugin is meant to show off (and learn) the capabilities of the Zebra oscillator. Zebralette presets in .h2p format can also be loaded into Zebra (where you can add filters and stuff).
Additionally, there are tons of oscillator presets here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=180090
(scroll down to "Zebra2 Modules (OSC, MSEG)")
And of course, there's the almost mandatory Transmission Patch & Template Collection by beej that contains dozens of starting points for all kinds of synthesis.
Cheers,
Urs

There are'nt any which might seem odd at first. However you can create your own and save them. Just right-click on the gery area below the Wave knob. Named default unless you have loaded in some presets.
Someone posted all waves from a Waldorf XT and Prophet VS so i have like a thousand waves.
Or you can try out my utility for loading singlecycle waveforms in to Z2.

So after just a short while you'll have thousands of presets and not think about it again.

Does the demo start to play random notes after a while when played from a midi keyboard?

Yes. After ten minutes. Pretty benign demo restriction if you ask me. Better than those bloody noise bursts.Hemmick Reef wrote:Does the demo start to play random notes after a while when played from a midi keyboard?

Thought my playing was getting dodgy
Great synth
I'm trying to compare it to my FM7 to see if it is just covering similar sounds for me? Although Zebra seems to have a very full smooth sound! The reverb is impressive and versitile too!

I don't have an FM7 around, but I guess using the FM possibilities in Zebra can get similar results. The strength of Zebra though is that you're free to combine FM, additive, subtractive, physical mudd and whatever exotic things you find. For instance you can use the output of a resonant filter as a modulator in a fm situation, use this for excitation of a comb filter which in turn could be filtered by an XMF that takes an oscillator as a source for FilterFM. Or so.
Another major difference to most other synths is that the whole signal path is stereo... it's big fun to use some panning on fm modulators

It can produce a much wider range of sounds than FM7 (I have FM8 to compare).

The stereo signal path is an outstanding feature, and not just for panning on fm modulators!
