I was playing around with Extreme Sample Converter and the new vsti converter and was using Modelonia, as well as a few other synths, to convert. All the others worked fine, but Modelonia did not - no audio would be recorded or played. Is there a reason for this?

Seems to be working for me here, and I have used ESC before to create some Modelonia samples sets. Tell me, can you load the synth and see the GUI, or not even that?

I can load the synth and see the gui, but no sound.
All other synths work and I hear them fine - and they convert with no problem, including other synths by dash signature and newsofting.
I re-downloaded the newest version of modelonia and installed it.
Did you do anything special to Extreme Sample Converter to make Modelonia work with the vsti converter? Any special settings? It's just dead audio for me. Modelonia even shows the MIDI notes as I play them, so I KNOW midi is working fine and all other audio works, so it's not the sound card either.

I have used it before as I said, but this morning I just loaded it up and saw it loaded fine, but I didn't test the sound...
Give me a day or two and I will check it out further.

I would like to know what version of Modelonia are you using? Is it the newest one or an older version?

I am using Modelonia 1.2. I just tested it for you, and while the GUI does show up, you are right, no sound comes through. It is strange, because I can see on the Modelonia GUI as I play that it is receiving midi signals.
I will let Luigi know, and also send a copy of Modelonia to Wlod of ESC.

Thanks pw. Like I said, it does work - gui shows up and midi notes also show up, but no sound. I have found only 2 other synths that do not show up. One by Krakli and one other - and the other two are tiny little synths. All romplers seem to work fine. Modelonia has to be one of my favorite modelling synths - so I really would like this to work!

I can't sample any VSTs at all anymore, or hardware. It just happened yesterday, but actually, this was my first sampling session in ESC since going to 3.1.6 via the quick update. Which versions are either of y'all using, and by which method did you update, full install or quick update? Probably unrelated problems, I just always find these software problems interesting. In any case, I'm fixing to write Wlodzimirez.

I installed full versions and am using both the beta and stable versions. I can sample vsti synths with the exception of a rare few, modelonia being one of them.
What did you do to get ESC to stop working?

Hey john, I am using the very very latest version - not sure if it is official yet, as I am testing the new DASHsnd support in ESC. I don't know. Talent, I guess. Actually, It works great for translations, it's just not sampling. I'm sure that it will all be cleared up soon. I'm just fishing for info on anybody's ESC problems in case there's a clue. What synth are you trying to sample that won't work with ESC? Perhaps I have that same synth (I own so many) and can try and see if it works for me?
Hardware wise, I just record audio - I never actually sample anything - I use Sony Sound Forge and other cool audio programs to create the samples themselves, then a mapper program to map them to a multisample file.

The ESC hardware sampler is great because you get your samples mapped to the format you want and so you just have to edit and loop then you're good to go for further preset writing.Karmacomposer wrote:What synth are you trying to sample that won't work with ESC? At the moment, what's happening is that when I sample either VSTs or hardware is that I get a message saying "EAccessViolation" and the program shuts down. I need to try the reinstall, and I need to write to Wlodimierez. Thanks for the feedback, and if you have any insight, I'll be glad to listen.

Yep. Uninstall ESC completely (possibly running regedit to make sure everything is removed). Download the newest full installer and re-install that.
Also, it could be your sound card - so also re-install your audio drivers with new fresh ones.
That should do it.
