MY Receptor has crashed

To add to the pain.....my Receptor Pro has crashed. At first, I thought it was DP 5.12 that was the culprit since it was crawling (the color wheel of death was almost constant). I then discovered that an empty DP worked fine.
I decided to shut down Receptor and reboot....and horror of horrors:
Startup Failed---Entering Recovery Mode <followed by>
Receptor Recovery: Restart?(Push to enter)
Restarting <followed by>
Startup Failed---Entering Recovery Mode (Rinse and Repeat).
I have put in my help ticket but....
It is time for me to say, I feel like I have wasted my money.
I bought my Receptor in February and feel I have had nothing but grief with this unit. The documentation was very poor (especially since it was pdf). The compatability issue with DP 5.0 and Uniwire 1.0 was buried, so I had clicks and pops and couldn't figure out why. After upgrading, I still found the unit unstable and tempermental.
I will say that tech support is filled with great guys doing their best. However, the difficulty in installing your own software and VST's along with its instability makes this unit a whole lot of hype that simply DOES NOT deliver what it was promised it would do.
I doubt I will ever purchase another Receptor (which I had originally planned on stacking more than 5)...to make this worse (and for me a MAC user to say this means a lot) I wish I had bought a rack mount PC engineered for making music (i.e. Spektral).

You should call Muse ~ if it's so important, why put yourself in a line-up of service situations?
You haven't wasted your money ~ shit happens.
They'll make it right.
My unit has 'delivered' for a few years now. I've had some problems, but like I said, shit happens. I tour and perform weekly and am running revision 'C'.

I am calling MUSE believe me...
I may be frustrated, but as a composer who needs not have his studio go dark, I am always fiddling with this thing...super frustrating.
Here is what I have not liked:
1. Loading Software is not easy, especially Spectrasonics. I also have Komplete 4...can't put it on there either.
2. Receptor Remote Control freezes a lot
3. Clicks and pops and audio dropouts are very common using Uniwire (and yes I have DP 5.12 now), even with high buffer rates
4. Receptor's memory when I open a DP session is a little screwy (i.e. it doesn't recall the instruments properly...even when I saved them)
5. I have to go through lots of little extra steps when I close a session (save the patch for each instrument then save the multi)
6. Some of the plug-ins that came with the Receptor unit are faulty (i.e. EVE)
7. If Receptor becomes too loaded with VST's it warns you memory is low and then automatically dumps everything and restarts.
I am usually an easy going guy who gives everything a chance...this has just proved to be too much headache for the COST of the unit. if it had only cost me a $1000 instea of $2500, I may be a little more patient. However, since this unit cost as much as a new PC or MAC, I expected ALOT more stability and power.

I agree, Receptor is a MAJOR PAIN in my ASS! What a waste of hard earned money. Shit never happens with my XV-5080.

Gentlemen
Please be patient, this recovery mode > restart problem is a bug we found in the last few days. We are working on a fix right now. It is the highest priority issue at the moment.
Really sorry to hear how you feel about Receptor.

Sorry you guys feel that way right now. I was right there MOST of last year. For me, it was spent finding a usable configurations for live keyboard performances with this thing. I now use a Wurly 200a and a Remote61SL/Receptor. Sometimes I'll bring my RD600 and Hammond. But this setup is moving up fast in my charts.
I'm a software developer so I can understand when a bug rears it's ugly head. Cut 'em a break and hopefully they'll take care of you.
(btw: I'm still waiting for practical channel MIDI routing. Muse hasn't responded to that either. But your restart bug is obviously much higher priority.)
Good luck!
