No, I like it, it's a good beat. I think that with equalization and compression to "liven" it up it would sound better. However, more important, and especially with percussion (and this advice goes to anyone who doesn't use this technique), applying "swing" or whatever your sequencer calls random note position quantization by miliseconds, could really help a lot as it "humanizes" stuff out of unreal perfection. If your sequencer has no such option, there's the "Humanize" MIDI plugin (which costs some money but is very extensive and especially useful if your host lacks that).

we have done the drawing.. here is what we did.. we printed each contestent onto a piece of paper, folded them up, and chose five of them. There ended up being 22 entries accross four forums. There was ONE winner from KVR. And it is:

KENTON

so congrats Kenton, PM me.

However, everyone who posted an mp3 did a fantastic job and its just great to hear the talents you guys have. What was cool about the KVR forum is that most of you used it via a software sampler (other forums had guys using it for replacement) and therefore had some of the most creative stuff I've heard. I look forward to some more free stuff in the near future.. and allow me to officially announce our next product which should please some of you here:

Hey, Steven,

Do the hits in your drum sample library sound like any of the drums in the demos on your slatestudios.com web site? Did you process them the same way?

I know that those songs went through mastering - just wondering if I could get close...

Hi Paul, many of the mixes on the Slate Studios stuff contain samples, albeit mixed in with the real drums (where on the site the drums are 100% to show off the sample).

If you give me a song name, I can look back at my session notes and tell you what samples were used.
