No, the tool is only for Z2. ZebraCM has fixed waveforms for the 2 oscillators. If you open a ZCM patch in Z2 and view the oscillator wave settings you'll see the waves Urs chose for them.stanlea wrote:So this tool works for ZebraCM ?

how do u unleash this potential? what type of patch do u have to make?Urs wrote:musicall wrote: With GeoMorph/SpectroMorph modes you simply get more spectacular and detailed results, which you can get out of no other synth known to me. In contrast to that, loading and crossfading single waves is something that many synths can do. Thus, Zebra's real potential is somewhere else, but unfortunately you can't just load/analyse waveforms to unleash it.

It's a synthesizer... it's up to you!musicall wrote:how do u unleash this potential? what type of patch do u have to make?
AFAIK there are lots of synthesizers that let you chain 50-100+ waveforms for a complex movement... but all the waveforms are just crossfaded. In Zebra you can morph the spline based curves - which is not like a crossfade, it's like, the control points move inbetween the states, like between keyframes in 3d animation software...
Combine that with the osc fx and you got something that's pretty much ahead of its time I'd say... fortunately it's usable and it sounds good...

I find dealing with Waveforms a big pain in Zebra right now.
Both the editing and the saving/loading seems kind of frustrating to me, to be honest.
Maybe editing could be helped with being able to double click to make points instead of having to right click every time.
As far as saving/loading, I think it's that the waveforms are associated only with wavesets stored within oscilators and having a list of just waveforms would be helpful.
I still have yet to organize my Zebra data correctly so my presets/msegs/oscs/etc... are all in the right place. (life sometimes gets in the way of being a true audio nerd)
One thing that I've suggested in the past that I think could be helpful is a pulldown list of favorites for waveforms and MSEGs especially, perhaps also OSCs and other components in the future.
I Love Zebra, it's the only 3rd part Synth or Sampler I use, but I find it to be very tedious in some areas.

go to 'more osc1' page... you will see a pull down menu that has geomorph, spectromorph, geoblend, and spectroblend...
he is talking about the morph options. Zebra will morph between waveforms in the waveset

Me too. I think I have to almost completely rewrite the wave editor control to get rid of the shortcomings. Which is a real pain, too... but it'll eventually happen!kodama wrote:I find dealing with Waveforms a big pain in Zebra right now.

i know about that...is the way i do that by drawing multiple different waveforms then assigning an lfo to "wave" in the osc ? is that the morphing urs is talking about? cuz often times when i do that i cant hear any change in the sound

I have no idea WHAT you are doing wrong there, but I think you should assume that you ARE doing something wrong. If you could be more precise, we will help...musicall wrote:pdxindy

Give me a chicken and a sandwich and i'll morph it into a chicken-sandwich for you.
Sometimes the key is the RESOLUTION on the waveform page. The faster it goes the less percieved morphing occurs, turn it down in resolution to have a longer and smoother morph.
Also try have Velocity control which waveform to play, kinda like sample layers.

thanks for all the great responses...currently my computer is in the shop...should be getting it back sometime today (hopefully) will post a patch example then, asap!
yeah basically there have been times where i've tried to use that feature and i cant seem to get it to work...i'll post up a patch tho, that'll be the best way to show what i'm talking about.

So i'm working on a new version of Wav2Zebra2. (Yes, Mac compatible amongst other things)
So do you have any feature requests, bug reports, things that annoy you to report ?
Have'nt heard much complaints.
I have some stuff that's been bothering me that i've been meaning to fix but if noone's noticed what's the point ?
It'll be finished (more or less) this week. I have to finish it for reasons i don't want to reveal at this point so it should be done at least before Monday. Maybe sooner.
