joe; it's your child, so whatever you name it we are stuck with :) i'm just thinking in terms of playing on it's former success.. it is definitely going to work like that. but for other reasons like the ones you mentioned perhaps you could name it:

the-plugin-formerly-known-as-freeamp2-with-many-improvements-and-new-features.

Wicked shred-tone btw! How's the clean, OD, and crunch tones coming along?
Cool, FreeAmp3 it stays :-)

Thanks I had a blast playing that stuff sunday was real currious how the driven tones would be as far as aliasing goes :-) The beginning high "d" bend high on the "e" string did quite well :-) Also wanted to have a look at how the frequency response was through the new speaker emulation (blew my mind). The clean, overdrive and crunch tones IMHO are even better :-) made a lot of progress in the speakers IMHO they are beggining to respond much like the real thing :-)

But then I would need a symbal for the name? Oh wait it ain't 1999 no more :-) no disrespect to Prince :-) love his stuff, but the symbal thing was a bit over the top :-)

How's it compare with ReValver 2? FreeAmp and ReValver 2 are my favs.

As many guitar players who I have heard say "this is the right tone that guy don't know shit" I would not even want to say anything to compare? not in it for that, I just want the tone I want and have wanted since the 80's. plus I have not even tried Revealver2 even though I am a registered v1 user, not trying to emulate anyone they will do what they wiill.

But thanks for the compliment of FA2, I hope you like what I did with FA3?

>dickiefunk - Yes! I just finished a 1x15 and 1x15w\horn cabinet, still need to add a 2x15 and 8x10 cab, it will be real nice for bass :-)

my feature request is that i'd like to beta this thing. :D

and also, in terms of naming it, keep the name but make the version roman numeral style, like rocky: FREEAMP III

Post

I can't wait for this to be released. One of the best freebies out there is FA2, IMO. So this would just be completely awesome to use.

So get a beta version out already so we can play with it!!!!!

Keep up the good work man!

I can't see a whole lot that FreeAmp needs improving on as far as its distortion/amp emulator aspects are concerned. I'm still using the old FreeAmp SE in fact, because I'm very comfortable with it. The guitar-controlled synth stuff in version 2 was really cool, though.

But if you wanna know my dream:

I'm a nerd. I want to do live gigs with a "one man band" setup: myself on guitar and vocals, and everything else done with the aid of a computer. I would love to see a FreeAmp standalone, geared to live performance and incorporating:

-a drum machine
-VST (synth) hosting capability
-audio file playback/sampler capability
-a mixer
-a "record" function to save performances

I realize a lot of this sounds similar to Maizesoft's AirRack... I love AirRack but it's seriously lacking in many respects, and it hasn't been updated in forever.

Anyways, thanks for all the plugins you've offered thus far, they're truly great.

Has many Vai'ish bends on it and over the top EVHalen doodlings, gotta love that ;) But to be honest, an awesome tone on that one. What setup did you use (HW + FA3 things)?
Basic EQ tip: highpass all that don't hit subs, usually all but bass and kick

Try MaizeSoft's MaizeStudio? Or try Usine.

:-) Thanks! my playing stinks, played bass most of my playing years. But Yes I think the tone is quite good also :-) for a setup its a cheapo Behringer D120 DI box into a Art tube MP, the rest is straight from FreeAmp3 (Overdrive, amp and delay).

Any word on the progress of this? I'm excited since I got my new guitar. I want new toys to run it through!

What guitar is this? :hyper:

Hey nice! I'd never heard of FreeAmp before, but this is very similar to what I've been trying to do with mine. It's got that physical solidness that so many sims totally fail to have, and it's not all smiley-faced and convoluted :D
Nice one FrettedSynth, keep it up :)
