Receptor questions...looking to replace MacBook Pro....

Ok here's there deal...currently I have a SL 990 midi controller, 88 keys. Im happy with this. I also have a macbook intel core duo with 2 Gig and Ableton Live! Its free from viruses or trojans and all legit but performance could be a lot better (the machine has a tendency to crash when many VST instruments are used). Finally I have a set of VSTs (some Zero G ones (sounds of the 70's)...Steinway Grand Piano...Broomstick Bass, enough to keep me happy. I also have Reason 3 which I enjoy using - my work is generally 'live' so I don't do too much sequencing.

Now...
My plan is to ditch the Macbook (which is a fragile piece of equipment whatever anyone says) and purchase a Receptor. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on the following.

1) Installation of VST plugins. Ok, as I have the original disks I also have the windows .dll files involved so no problem there - but I do not have an internet connection (its a long story). I've read the posts here but I would love to hear from anyone whose installed

Zero G - products - specifically 'sounds of the 70's'
Steinway Grand Piano VST
Broomstick Bass

on the reactor and what kind of success they've had. To confirm - I do NOT have a working internet connection (due to firewall issues - which only allow work traffic through (on a non-standard port). I have however in the past registered these products (when I did have a working internet connection). After spending 2 grand on a receptor Im sure you would all understand to go out and purchase even more VST instruments...

2) Im expecting not - but is there any way of using any of the Reason refills that I have.

3)Apologies if this is an obvious question, but I can split different VST voices over different parts of the keyboard - is that correct.

Any suggestions/ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Mark.

p.s.out of interest - while Im based in London if anyone wishes to swap a Receptor for a mint condition MacBook Pro 2Gig notebook do let me know :)

Hi Mark

Coupla points:

We do support alot of the Zero G things, but I'm not sure what you mean by "Steinway Grand Piano VST" (is that Zero G as well?) and although I've heard of Broomstick Bass, I'm not familiar with what kind of copy protection it uses... most people use Trilogy (which is awesome).

As for your lack of internet connection, pretty much all NI and Spectrasonics programs use challenge / response which requires that you have SOME way of connecting to the Internet to get the challenge code. Having said that, you might want to talk to Alan at Grizzly in the UK, he is a great guy and might be willing to authorize everything for you so you don't have to deal with doing it yourself. His contact info is on the Muse Research site.

And Receptor does splits faster and easier than probably any other product you'll ever use in your entire life... as well as layering and rechanneling MIDI...

Cheers
