Alesis Ion is about £430, micron (same, less knobs/keys) is about £270, so why can't I buy a knobs only version for about £200-£220?! EVERYONE has controller keyboards these days, so why do the manufacturers keep making these budget options but not making ones for the huge number of peope like myself who want a synth but ALREADY HAVE KEYS AND CONTROLS!!
Some rack mounted synths are very short and easy to carry (like XV-5050, FS1R).
There is also Roland XV-2020 which is even smaller and the new SonicCell
(basically a FantomX synthesiser plus audio/midi interface).
Seriously no company will make a product which will not sell good enough. Unless they want to go out of business. I'd like to have all my gear in an small pocket size box but for various reason it's not possible (at least not yet). Perhaps I will sound like a heretic here but if someone would like to have least possible hassle with gear then there isn't other option than get a single hardware workstation like Fantom, Motif, Triton or M3. But it's not for dirt cheap unfortunately (I'd like have them all...).
