this ModFX series is really neat.
THey made more than 4 : at least 6 or 9.
I have also found a internet shop which was selling one modFX which had never left the protoype step and was never built. I had dreamt they were built, because it was amazing stuff !
I own 4 of them, an internet shop was making a huge sale on it and i had them 4 for less than 70 euros

at one point, Turnkey were doing about half of the range for £19 each.

and I never bought any.

MDA has a decent ring mod -- good for shortwave style xmod sounds

Alesis went bankrupt in 2001 and were then bought out by Numark. These boxes came out in early 2002, so would have been one of the first things released by Alesis after the acquisition. Presumably Numark was testing the waters with these (or putting out something that had already been manufactured before bankruptcy, with no intention of every making any more).

I don't think they sold very well, given that they've been discontinued for several years now and you can still find new old stock at various retailers.

wow, good stuff guys.

the forstwave pedal in particular looks great. the website even offers a 30 day money back trial !!! unfortunately they seem to be australian so i might not get the chance to take them up on that but it's nice to see.

now, gotta find one to try somewhere (perferably in a shop that has a few others to compare)

time to do some googling (if anyone based in the north of england has a favourite shop that stocks these kind of esoteric pedals could they shout up)

frostwave only sell online. the 30-day guarantee covers everyone; i assume its from time-of-delivery to date-of-posting-for-return.

i seriously want a couple of their toys but I wants to grab me an AudioWeevil first.

Frostwave are great, but the only ringmod i need is the Moogerfooger one. I got it cheap as chips of ebay.

Big City Music in the U.S. also sell Frostwave gear online. It is really strange that the Frostwave site emphasizes so much that they won't sell through retailers. I assume the site hasn't been updated in years.

thanks for all your help guys. i've ordered a frostwave blue ringer in the end if anyone cares (and also a sonic alienator as well cos it looks ace and i was already paying for some shipping - i am weak)
