When I load the DLL, I can only load it as an instrument not as a FX; did you save the DLL as FX or as synth?

My plug has one input, and two outputs. Maybe that poses a problem for Logic? I could build a version with just one output (although that doesn't seem to work well with Sonar, or the wrapper that comes with it).
Maybe it's an option to use it as a DirectX effect through a wrapper (like DirectiXer e.g.)?

It shows up fine as an effect in Logic. You gotta use a mono track or hold down Shift on an empty insert for a stereo track to have access to mono>stereo plugins. Of course anything loaded previously will be mixed down to mono.
The thing doesn't seem too bad for a first attempt, but I gotta try a bit more.

So what's your problem?verstaerker wrote:this an emulation of an Virus?
The fact that I provided an installer, which is easier than just a zip with a dll anyway, seems to have given some people the idea that they can insinuate that this is a virus.
FYI:
- CrunchDude is not a virus, nor does it contain any.
- I will not create virusses ever, nor will I release any, exe or otherwise.
- I have a well protected system (firewall + two antivirus programs running always, and system checked for any kind of malware on a regular basis). My system is clean.
- A dll can equally contain virusses as an exe. A dll contains executable code, just like an exe does. A dll is no more secure than an exe. If I would have wanted to make a virus, I would have made a dll only, because you seem to trust dll's more than you trust exe's.
- The installer was made with InnoSetup, a well-known, and as far as I'm concerned, awesome installer (see http://jrsoftware.org).
- If you keep on insinuating that this is a virus (which it isn't), then I can probably stop making plugins altogether, because sooner or later people are going to believe you.

I've been using VST plugins for a long time. I started with Cubase and Amplitube. Now I usually run them through Tobybear. Unless I'm recording it just makes it easier. I now have 32 amps and effects. (Green machine, Nomad Legends, Amplitube, Voxengo, Warp, etc). They all work well and do some amazing things, but I just couldn't get the "TONE" I was hearing in my head. Then just last week I found "Crunchdude". For me, this is the Holy Grail I was looking for. The tone as well as the way it responds to variables is balls-on-perfect for me. Personally I think the interface is just fine. But even if it wasn't I wouldn't care. What matters to me is what comes out of the speakers. And The Dude gives me what I want. Lack of High Gain is a non-issue as well. It's there on some of my other amps and I just don't use it. As musicians, the "perfect tone" we all seek is different for each of us. But for me this is the one. Heeb knocked it out of the park on this one. I can't wait to see his next creation. Keep Rockin Heeb!

Good to read you here! It was your initial email to me (which you gave me permission to quote, which I did here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 97#2777697) that has inspired me to really start thinking deep and hard about the next version. And I must say, since receiving your email, I've already developed some new (and I think cool) ideas for it!
What will always stay the same, is the philosophy: to create an original amp VST, so don't ever expect presets that are supposed to "sound like" <fill in yer fav hardware amp here>. I'll leave imitating amps to the competition. Let me strive to create an amp that others will want to imitate
As soon as I have news (I mean in the form of some new software, not empty promises... let's not repeat the http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50312 debacle), I'll let you all know! In the mean time, enjoy the good old 0.1 version!!!
Thx Russell, thx all!

WTF???
I skipped this initially since it is made with SynthEdit. Amp sims often tend to be on the high side cpu-wise and all SynthEdit stuff I'Ve come across has a noticeable cpu overhead so imo both don't go to well together.
But CrunchDude has a lower cpu-consumption than any other amp-sim I tried, safe Rednef Twin. How can this be?
I mean, if it was just a bit of simple digital distortion I would understand, but this thing sounds really good - and I mean really - besides it is rather flexible.
Fantastic job, Heeb!

Well, you know...jens wrote:WTF???
My guess is, amp sim builders tend to want to do too much. I kept it simple. Yes, internally it is *really* simple...jens wrote:I skipped this initially since it is made with SynthEdit. My guess is, the *cab* sim section in many amp sims is really complicated. Mine is simplicity itself. As is the overdrive function, BTW.jens wrote:But CrunchDude has a lower cpu-consumption than any other amp-sim I tried, safe Rednef Twin. How can this be?
Tube amps are simple, so why make amp sims complicated?
Thanx a lot!!! Thanx, Thanx, Thanx!!!jens wrote:I mean, if it was just a bit of simple digital distortion I would understand, but this thing sounds really good - and I mean really - besides it is rather flexible.
Encouraging words.
Encouraging me to start working on the next version!!! Which will be even *lower* in CPU, since native!!!
Did I say Thanx already?jens wrote:Fantastic job, Heeb!![]()

Well I just like to add to Jens' fine words (I use your great plugin since quite some time, as I am not so reluctant using Synthedit's stuff, but surely some are cpu-hogs like Jens says) that I think guitarzan once recommended me this one too, and I just heard people say good things about it. Additionally - in parts because I never had a "real expensive" amp - I like the attitude to make just good sounds instead of trying to copy brands. Nothing wrong with that, but I like your way better
