I thought IK went to great lengths to make ST2.5 and SS2 sounds interchangeable(?) it sounds like some beancounter thinks OmniSynth2 sales would cut into potential ST2.5 sales to people who had to, or wanted to, choose SS2 over ST2.5 at $$$crunch-time$$$. Like Yamaha,
'Hey, lets sell 30 different keyboards with meaningless confusing names, all based on just XG or Motif!'

Just makes Santas job a little more difficult.

No, it has nothing at all to do with that. The way it works is that SampleTank 2.5 is the flagship product and the only one that can play all of the sounds from other SampleTank-format products. No one ever said the sounds were interchangeable but rather that SampleTank 2.5 can READ it's own sounds as well as the sounds of Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog, Miroslav Philharmonik and upcoming Sonik Instruments, SampleTank format sample libraries such as those on www.esoundz.com and also the SampleTank format version of OmniSoundz 2.

Sonik Synth 2 is a closed sound module that only plays its own sounds... granted there are thousands of them and the number of combinations withn that rom set are infinite. But SampleTank 2.5 is an open sample player sound module that can play more than just the sounds that come with it.

Hope that explains it. The sounds are in any case different between the three products.

No worries. Ask for a discount on Omni 2 when it comes out. You'll probably like having both anyway. The original Omni is like a light version. Did you get it in Reason? We don't have the multiformat version of Omni 1 up there (apart from OmniSynth for ST)... although we are planning on putting up Omni 1 in HALion, Kontakt, EXS as well as a downloadable product.

If you don't have Sampletank or SS2 yet, you have a neat route to go right now. IK is running a special Powered by Sampletank promotion that gives you a free copy of Sampletank 2.5 if you purchase SS2 or Philharmonik, or Philharmonik Classic. This means that if you wanted to buy SS2,you get the ST2.5 engine either way. You then have the option of ordering the Sampletank Sounds only, later. That way, you can buy Sonik Synth 2, and OmniSoundz2, and still run them under the Sampletank Engine. You also get two premium quality piano sounds tossed in free.

EDIT,,, this link doesn't take you directly to the page, but hit that link, then click home, and scroll down to powered by Sampletank offer

Are you referring to the "plus 2 FREE premium Concert Grand Piano sounds for 100MB of samples" mentioned on www.sampletank.com ?
Is there a way to get those sounds for registered users?

Best regards

Well, we could get it started this week if you want. We want to do it for the month of November but a little head start couldn't hurt. We're still actually working on it though. Should be done by the time it is over. That will give us time to make extra bonus kits. I'm telling you the drum kits will be worth it alone!

Let me know when you want us to start! As usual the whole thing depends on you guys!

I may have to pull some swag out as well...

Squids,

It's November. :P A friendly reminder and/or public service mesage from your friends at the National Association of...never mind...no actual national association of anything here. But it is November. :hyper:

OmniSoundz 2 Group Buy will be after the Sonik Synth 2 + SampleTank 2.5 (engine) group buy that we're starting today. The reason for this is... well, THIS group buy is ready now! OmniSoundz 2 is almost ready but we want to beta test it in all of the various formats. By the way, we're picking a few outside people for each format so if you want to beta test let me know. To get the beta version it's only $50. for a single format version to test. But if you are helpful in your reports you get the whole final thing with all of the formats shipped to you for no additional charge. If you have the ability to test more than one format and your reports are useful then we'll even credit back some or all of the initial $50. in epointz. So let me know if you want to be involved in that. We might do an OmniSoundz 2 GB as the next one perhaps.
