I imagine a new version of Receptor with no display, no knobs, no MIDI, no ADAT, no analog audio... just UNIWIRE, for all those who like me just want to integrate PC plug-ins into a Mac environment (and for PC users too, of course). The price would be much lower, let's say 1/2 of the regular Receptor, I guess it would be a best seller. Personally I'd like to buy a Receptor but price in Europe is quite high and I don't like to pay for all those hardware features I simply don't need.
I think a Receptor mini with just Uniwire (and maybe analog and optical in/out) may be a successful product. With Mac mini or AppleTV form factor alike and using Receptor software for something like $399. Now that will be sweet.

Hacking an AppleTV to make Receptor software on it work may be fun stuff for Muse engineers.

i've been trying to think of ways to re-box my older machines to run as slave synths for low CPU-cost VSTi software, but i'm not that clever with the case mod thing. i almost bought a MacMini for similar reasons (and to have a NEW Mac to keep technologically current on instead of my old PPC Macs and Mac Clones). i think your idea has merit, though the Receptor is more directed at people who want to rack a VST machine for portable and programmable software synth work horses. (though, i am always worried about my iLok snapping off in the socket and would fear it being stolen if i ever was to perform with it... hah hah... me, perform... hah hah)

WOW! This would be great!!!
I agree that most buyers of the current Receptor will use it mainly as an expander but I'm sure there is another group of potential buyers who work in the studio and just want to use Receptor as they can use the Powercore or UAD-1 cards. The Uniwire software could even give up the mixer window and the Receptor based plugs could be loaded directly from the host, exactly as we do with Powercore and UAD-1 plugs.
I dont' know if at Muse they will consider this but I'm sure soon or later someone will do something like that.

I also think this will be great for Receptor owners who have a rack unit and want to expand with these Receptor minis for a much lower cost and power consumption (eco-friendly). Looks like a win-win to me.
