The columns on the right should be fixed size (as they are) but the column that forum posts reside in should expand with this as the minimum size.

There shouldn't be empty space on the right whether there is content or not. Fill the empty space with smooth-cornered rectangular 'containers'.

Or better yet, go back to the good old look. It was much better.

I think this could be great with an expanding layout.

Wouldn't it be preferable to centre the forum text? The right-most vertical banner could be moved over to the left, much in the way the old layout was.

So the layout could be:

Instead of:

The new layout has been up for several hours, and adjusting to it hasn't gotten any easier. It's difficult to focus on something on one side of the screen while there's whole lot of stuff going on on the other side. Similarly, it's weird reading the bottom of the forum pages, when the text is constrained to a fairly small frame and it is surrounded by a vast sea of neutral space.

There should at least be an option to have the old look.. I mean the avatar and posts are way too sqaushed into the left hand corner now. Looks odd..

I really like the direction the site is going. I like the interaction on the home page and especially the white background for reading. I hope the forum gets the same interaction and white background. I think the layout is more comfortable though if the main content, i.e. forum, was in the center with the thinner columns on either side. I know it's a work in progress, keep up the good work.

Well... at least it's not as bad as futureproducers (stopped by once... never went back because of the forum layout)
