I hope this is the correct forum, otherwise, please, could a Moderator move this to the correct place? Thank you.

The Wusik Engine (Windows only) is the same used by Wusikstation, our leadership product. With this VST engine, you can add your own sounds, product name, skin design and release it as your own. Without having to pay heavy fees for that. We offer a very simple way of licensing our engine, see the prices below.

The license includes the latest Wusik Engine version and all updates for that version. You only need to worry about distributing it, we will handle support for you. There are no setup fees. But if you need special help getting things done, we will talk about a cost.

To get started, just ask us for a NFR (Not for Resale) copy of Wusikstation, take care of your own Skin, add the sounds to the package, and create your own installer for it. (or just ZIP all files together) The Wusikstation Updater has all the minimum required files for the Wusik Engine to run. We will also supply you with your own VST unique ID. You can rename the Wusikstation DLL and INI files to accommodate your product name.

Notes: this is for the Windows version only. Once we release the MAC version, we will name the price for the MAC version alone. The license doesn't include any Wusikstation sounds, only the RAW Waveforms included with the update-installer. Those waveforms are under "Wusikstation DATA\SoundSets\Waveforms".

Seems like a good place to post it to me.

And what a great idea, Willian.

Cool idea for sure...but I think my brain's a bit slow today...regarding the pricing you list, what constitutes a License? If I create my own instrument using Wusik Engine and then distribute it, is one license = one copy sold?

Post

Thanks guys.

Yes, one license = one copy sold. You can opt to pay for each license as you go, or pre-pay with a discount.

What happens when you out sell the number of licenses you've pre-paid for? :D

Obviously the licensing fee would play a huge part in pricing any instrument created with Wusik Workstation, because if you priced your instrument at like $50 then the license fee would be anywhere from 14% - 67% of the cost, depending on which license you bought. And the number of units you'd have to sell to recoupe the license outlay would be from 1 to 48.

I have no clue how this measures up to industry standards.

----Sorry to interupt this thread, but a 30% discount for 400 licenses doesn't make sense compared to a 50% discount for 100, plus the $ numbers don't add up, you probably meant 60% discount for 400 licenses no ?

Not that this is a bad idea or anything, but, um...correct me if I'm wrong...I think you could make your own libraries and use that Maizesoft sampler, and you only have to buy the software once and then you can create your own instruments and sell them without having to worry with all of these licensing issues.

----In concept that is about correct, but comparing the Maizesoft plug-in to Wusikstation, is not at all an "equal" comparison, with Wusik coming out far far ahead. Far ahead enough, that someone might actually buy (ie = pay for) your finished product, not that no one will ever buy a Maizesoft made vst, but it has yet to happen, and I wouldn't hold my breath for it to go for more than $10-$20. Anyways, just saying, on paper the comparison is vaguely in the neighborhood, but in reality, it's not even close. :)
----And no worries William, the numbers just didn't look right, just trying to help or keep others from being confused at least.

Not my intention to jump into other developer's thread, just wanted to point out this "it has yet to happen" part is not correct. Not sure if the products are still up there, but the last time I checked, a few maize-powered plugins were sold at powerfx. ;)

BTW, IIRC, the pricing of those maize-powered VSTis were way over $10-$20.. :)

As a sample developer, I have kept my eye on Maize with a degree of hope and optimism for the great idea of the VSTi export, but to date I find the engine under-featured for our needs, especially compared to the current state of the WusikEngine. However, if you keep up development, and as more modulators, filters and effects come online, I think that you will see a surge in your business. I am glad for you that folks are doing Powered by Maize products, however.

In the meantime, I've emailed William with a few questions and given Dangerous Bear's history with the Wusik format, we just might jump on this.

Pretty interesting tactic!

----O.k., I stand half corrected. No offense was meant really, just saying the comparison was way off, but Maizesoft may serve a different customer base entirely and the Wusik way may not take off at all, who knows.

Maizesoft is a great idea, but it lacks features that Wusik has, such as:

1. An extensive modulation matrix
2. Through this matrix, pedal down and release sample layers, sample start modulation, gates for turning layers on and off, etc
3. Multiple effects (reverb, dynamics, etc) and support for most vst effects.
4. The ability to control almost anything with an envelope
5. Wave sequencing
6. Multiple filters

And probably a lot more that I can't think of right now. Wusik is getting close to being a combination of a Kurzweil and a Korg Wavestation.
