Yeah. It's too narrow. What's the point of having a wide-screen monitor if KVR can fit on a mobile phone..?

I much prefer the old format.

Having just read through the whole thread I now feel queasy.

This new format really SUCKS big-time. It looks like it was designed by a Malaysian town-planner (anyone who's been there will understand that).

It wasn't broken before, so why "fix" it..?

If the "Latest Additions to the Plugin Database" section weren't so glaring/painful I think I'd rather like the new layout/colours.

Do we really need to know about new additions? Is it that critical? I'd rather have immediate visual info on PM's, like the old setup.

Gotta say, when I popped on here this evening I thought something was wrong with Firefox/My 'puter...

I feel very queasy having to focus on the left side of my monitor to read the forum now. Absolutely horrendous IMHO

Font sizes are completely screwed as well - in addition to the idiotic layout! Oh, and the colours are causing me a headache, esp. the lighter of the two blues - that's just horrible!



OK, sorry for the harsh tone, but I was really shocked.

Yes, it's much too narrow. The contrasts between the dark colours and edit box or "Latest additions..." is hurting. The slightly lighter blue as message background is way too saturated.

As for the font sizes: I used to browse with Firefox zoomed 2 steps up. Not optimal, but useable. Now without zoom, the message text is already too big, while most other text is really tiny.

Please roll it back! It's really bad!

While there still are aspects to the new look that I do like (most colors, shapes, modern style)...after having had the better part of the day to try to warm up to the new look, I still think that putting all the weight of the page on the right side just doesn't feel quite right. And as also stated by most everyone, the reduced posting area is unfortunate.

I suppose this takes away from the clean modern look, but on the other hand it allows full use of the page (assuming an expanding layout, based on browser size), puts the majority of the weight on the left, splits the sidebar to help the balance, and takes up a bit less space at the top.

I should probably be more forthright in saying that I actually like the LOOK of the new stuff, and some of the functionality - it's the positioning which is not good, IMO.

I like the positioning of the smilies when quoting or normal replying

Hey guys I just clicked that customize button at the top of the latests post and selected to the left (old style) came back here and its the same thing..


Even the ad at the top has more space than the actual posts (albeit not by much)!

Just to throw something... the new width, from a readability point of view, isn't narrow at all; actually it's quite good as it nearly follows the classic rule of around 10 words per line (depending on the font size).
And I'm not saying it has to stay.

I really like all of ugo's suggestions.
