No luck installing Reverence on the Receptor... Anyone else give Audio Damage plugins a try?

This one I can maybe answer myself, as I wrote to Audio Damage. They said only about 3 people have shown interest in using their AD plugins on Receptor, so they haven't felt compelled to investigate further. 
So let me put in a plug for AD's products--- really nice, every one of them, and they would be awesome on Receptor!
(I had no luck via 'unsupported' methods.)

1) get root access via ssh working with putty (see http://receptor.panthouse.se)
2) put the windows installer (assuming it is an exe and not an msi) in the "My Documents" folder
3) ssh in as root and navigate to the folder
4) open up receptor remote on your PC/Mac
5) in SSH, do "export DISPLAY=:1"
5) then do "wine 'executablename'" such as "wine setup.exe" or if the exe has spaces in it "wine 'setup with spaces.exe'" (with the single quotes)
the windows installer will run and display on your remote screen. when prompted, install it to c:\Program Files\VST Plugins\Unsupported Plugins\someDirYouMakeUp
after the install, go the the setup screen and install plugs like you would any other unsupported VST.
Using this method, any registry entries or other "magic" done by the windows installer is done on the receptor. I have gotten SEVERAL plugins to work this way that would NOT work via the normal "file copy" unsupported method (even when also manually cloning registry entries with regedit).

My SSH activation priviledges have been disabled on my Receptor at the factory.
Is it possible to perform steps 3 through 6 while logged in as root on the Receptor without SSH? In other words, if I interrupt the grub booter and navigate to the /My Documents folder, will your instructions work when logged directly onto the machine?
