Any way of editing plugin names?

When you choose a plugin for a given channel or bus you call up the big menu of what you have. Is there any way of editing the way the plugins are named in that menu? I have a couple of plugins that come up as "container" I guess because receptor couldn't figure out what to call them. I also have Manyguitar which comes up as "Eve One" I guess because the sound engine used is based on Eve. It would be nice to name things more correctly in these cases if possible.

Hello there!

You can easily edit the plugin names that appear on the menus by editing
the *-info-cache.xml file associated with the plugin and doing a plugin
cache reset (hold down multi and triple click power) after the editing.
The xml file resides in the same directory as the plugin dll file.

Specifically you edit the following tag contents with a text editor:

<vst-plugin-name> ... </vst-plugin-name>

This way you can even organize the plugins by function i.e. putting a
"Comp:", "Eq:", "Delay:" or whatever prefix you want in front of the
plugin names thus resulting in a list first sorted by function, then
by plugin name / manufacturer. Example: "Eq: URS N Series".

Hope this helps!

Actually, here are the details for a plugin cache reset:

1. Hold down the "Multi" button on the front panel of the Receptor
2. Triple click "Power" button quickly while still holding down "Multi" button
3. Keep holding down the "Multi" button while the Receptor resets itself
4. When you see "Loading..." on the display you can release the "Multi" button
5. Done!

You can now go and check out your refreshed plugin list.

Thanks for the help.

This is great information! I too have been modifying my numerous plug-ins this way. In addition, I believe you can also modify the vendor name field so you could theoretically click on the "view plug-in type" button and sort categorically instead of by "developer" (if you want to do all that work). A word of warning though; there are certain punctuation characters that are not accepted.

Anybody want to offer up any other nifty tips & tricks like this for the Receptor?

Thanks,
Steve
