What sampler can I install on receptor?

Greetings all - I need some advice. Please pour it on...

I want to put a sampler on my new Rev C Receptor. Can somebody recommend one? I'd like to put Kontakt or Independence on the Receptor, but Kontakt 3 is not user installable and I haven't heard of anyone running Independence. I don't own Kontakt 2. Is there a current user-installable sampler that I can get onto Receptor? It seems I've picked up a Receptor at an awkward moment, between versions of other people's (that is, non-Muse) software.

I'm a drummer/ percussionist and use Battery 3 and Mach Five on a Mac. Mach Five doesn't run on Receptor. I can't install Battery 3 myself. BFD is great for drums, but I want a general purpose sampler to set up some exotic "kits" for use with my zendrum. I get that Muse will install Komplete 4. But I don't have Komplete 4, and I don't think I can buy Komplete 4.

Any advice/suggestions welcome.

thanks

Hi Mark,

I'm just curious - why you wouldn't consider BFD for this type of application. Do you forsee needing more pads/controllers than BFD provides for the number of samples you wish to trigger?

I recall seeing a video on the FXpansion site (I think the demonstrator's name was John Emerich) triggering all sorts of exotic kits from Zendrum with BFD on Receptor. Perhaps it was FXpansion's 'percussion' library.

In any case - my first recommendation for triggering samples from a drum controller would be BFD (over Kontakt, and probably other sample players), because I think the architecture (disk streaming, etc) and latencies that sample players provide might be overkill in comparison to something like BFD.

Hello - thanks for your reply. I'm familiar with John Emrich from Zendrum forums and I totally get that BFD is truly great for doing drum kits with Zendrum & Receptor. I am not clear on whether BFD can import some of the ethnic sounds that I'm wanting to use. I like what Battery 3 lets me do in terms of velocity layers, effects, etc, and I like the interface. I am also wanting to use a sampler for occasional use with a keyboard.

Appreciate your reply. I'll look again at BFD to see if it can import samples.

Try Shortcircuit.

Thanks for the suggestion - but I'm a Mac person. Looks like Shortcircuit is a Windows item.
