Ok, so I upgraded from 7.1.1 to 7.2.3 a few days ago and now I'm getting that problem where the first note doesn't play in the bar when I start the loop. I believe this was a problem before and I'm hoping there is a solution or a patch fix. Since I usually create sounds, automate and bounce, the issue with the first section of the bar not playing is killing me and stunting my music production. Can someone help or is there a newer version of Z2 that rectifies this problem? Or maybe I should set a negative delay, but if I do what should it be set to so I can accurately capture my sounds?

Hi,
it's a bug in Logic that Apple says is fixed in Logic Studio
The workaround is easy:
Set the Delay in the track parameters to 5 ticks or so - 1 tick may be sufficient as well. This shifts the first note back into where Logic believes the region to start.
Cheers,
Urs

Setting the delay to 1 seems to work. So what does that do? Is that seeting it to a delay of 1ms or something? And since I'm definitely gonna wait at least a year before upgrading to Logic Studio and Leopard, I guess I'll just have to remember to set delay to 1 for my Zebra now. Thanks Urs!Urs wrote:Hi,

Zebra reports 16 samples of latency - which is subtle enough to still be playable live, and allows for incredible performance boost / optimization. To compensate for latency on an instrument track, Logic basically sends the Note On/Off messages *earlier*.
Now, in Logic 7.2, wheneve a plugin in an instrument track reports any latency, it forgets to send these NoteOns right *before* the cue point. Thus, when shifting the track back a tick (a tick is roughly a 1/1500 note in Logic I think), that "too early" note shifts back into the time after the cue point...
(sounds more complicated than it is I guess, but d'oh... the latency introduced by the tick is less of a timing problem than what MIDI ever had to offer)
Cheers,
Urs
