ADAT out to mixer to soundman and stage amp

I've been using the receptor for a couple years now, and I just upgraded to a Komplete. I want to separate the sounds I use live instead of pushing everything out through one stereo output into my (stereo) amp (Motion Sound KBR-3D if you're interested).

I cover bass sounds in the band and would like to send bass sounds to a separate bass amp and more importantly give the sound guy a bass signal along with my other stereo signals (piano, keyboards etc).

I want to use the ADAT out to split the sounds but I need to get back to the analog realm. Is there a small digital mixer (ADAT in to 3 or 4 stereo outs) or a small D/A converter that someone can recommend(which I can then plug into a little analog mixer) ?

Anyone else doing this kind of setup?

Hi Budd

I use a Mackie 1202 vlz pro and Behringer ADA8000.
You can route your signals in many way's.

Get an Alesis NanoBass on eBay to cover the bass sounds and do everything else on Receptor ;-)

Since I don't have an ADA8000 that's what I do.

And it does reduce the load on the Receptor as well.

I wish someone would make something like the ADA8000 WITHOUT the Mic Pre's. Seems like it would be a lot cheaper, just ADAT to 8 analog outs, no more no less.

Well one of the main uses of my Receptor is bass sounds using Trilogy. I also use Ivory for piano sounds and now that I have Komplete will probably start adding in an array of synth sounds.

I found this:

It's an ADAT in to 8 analog out converter, simple, small, good for my needs. The only question now is will there be as much volume/gain output from the Receptor's ADAT as there is coming from the analog outs on the Receptor? The volume knob on the receptor will still affect the ADAT out, right?

Aleses AI-3 - discontinued but still available from a few retailers, or used on eBay. I use this on the road with Receptor, flawless and very good audio quality.

SM Pro Audio announced a pair of 1/2-rack ADAT converter boxes awhile ago, but it looks like only the A/D side has been released.

The gain in this case would completely be a function of whatever DA hardware you use.

No, the volume knob on receptor controls ONLY the master buss. If you have ADAT1 or SPDIF assigned to an output that mirrors the master buss, then the vol knob seems to work (surprised me). But all the channels that are assigned ONLY to ADAT1-4 or SPDIF (to get the separation you crave) are NOT affected by the vol knob on Receptor.

Search this forum for BCF-2000 though. Killer way to control vol of independent receptor channels on stage.

Presonus Digimax works well for me for multiple outs on stage

Is there such a thing as being able to control the gain of a digital input? If I get a Presonus Digimax FS, which is an 8 channel preamp a/d/a converter with adat i/o, I don't believe the level knobs adjust that of the ADAT ins only the XLR ins, right?

Or is this a moot point... How strong is the signal coming out of the ADAT on the Receptor?

And... at this point I'm trying to eliminate the need for a mixer altogether. My main motivation is to separate the bass sounds (mono) from the keyboard sounds, which I want to remain in stereo. To send out those three outputs from the Receptor I need to use ADAT.

The ADA8000 might be the right tool for the job (and less expensive than the Presonus and the Marian)
