I tried it in Live5.2, with each efx slot used as an oscillaotr, and it uses a damn lot of cpu (15-20% for a single note, and raises to 85% for a chord!): do you have the same behaviour or do i have something wrong with Live at the moment ?
I'm confused. You're using each of Live's efx slots as an oscillator?
No, i am using each of the 2 SC2's "filters" slot as an oscillator, to use the sampler as a synth (i was expecting it to sound like Surge ;) ).
= instead of selecting, for example, "reverb" on filter 1 and "HP" on filter 2, i have selected "osc sine" and "pulse".

Btw, have you seen my tutorial ? Was it of any help ?

4 note, 85% CPU confirmed. sc2 8osc/8vcf/16env + reverb + chorus. Sounds pretty good! :D

Just tried it in SC1 though, using XT2 on a crappy P4 desktop, using the sawtooth wave, oscillator count of 6, 45% CPU in Process Explorer.

The modulation matrix is very powerful
Since two days that i am on SC2, i even find hard to go back to SC1 ! the new gui, the browser, the mapping... really lovely !
Claes, i don't know if you planned to totally give it up, but in any case, you created an amazing sampler, and made us a wonderfull present.
Thanks again.

i'm trying to stay away from SC2 as to not be disappointed with missing features: slicing, snap to zero, no automation, hmmm, what else; i can't think of anything

but it's hard, SC2 is so freakingly amazing

SC2 is addictive :hyper: :drunk: :hyper: :drunk: :hyper: :drunk: :hyper: :drunk: :hyper: :drunk: :hyper: :drunk: :help:

some useful info in the sc1 manual since some stuff works the same.

May I ask now, for SC1, is 1.1.2 better or more trouble-free than 1.1.1? :)
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

Does 1.1.2 or ver 2 have global controls for setting pitch bend range and poly/mono/legato?
1.1.1 does not. These have to be set at the sample level. That makes it unworkable.

I haven't tried 1.1 but 1.2 and 2.0 both do. In 2.0 when you click "select all" The sample display changes to "Multiple layers selected changes will be applied to all of them". You have to shift-click to select all layers in 1.2. but it's the same thing.

EDIT: fixed

Here's a SC2 empty wave synth patch. If you want add more than the 2 oscillators..

Copy the empty wave to more layers.
Switch back to layer-A.
Click select all layers (on).
Reopen the filters to the same selection.
Jiggle all the controls to apply to all layers.
Click select all layers (off).

Now you can detune or fine tune the separate layers.

here a 3 note chord takes about 10-11 % cpu ...if i raise the chord some octaves the cpu use will raise a bit too.

tomg;

Thanks, That helps.
1.1.1 works like you said that 1.1.2. works.

Wow! I can't believe Short Circuit is now free! What an amazing gift

Been playing with v1.1.2 for an hour or so now (wanted to get the hang of SC1 before I dived in with SC2) and the sheer amount of features and options is just phenomenal.

One thing I'm having a slight problem with at the moment is the automation, which doesn't seem to be behaving as I would expect. I'm trying to just create a simple pan sweep from left-to-right, by doing the following (in Tracktion):

1. Create an empty track, and set it to automate the parameter "auto000"
2. Draw a simple curve to sweep the automation from 0 to 1 (i.e. left to right)
2. Bring up the SC1 interface, select a zone, go to modulation routing and set source to "auto000", destination to "pan" and amount to 100%

Now, when I play the track back, instead of sweeping form left-to-right, my sample is sweeping from centre-to-right. If I change the modulation amount to -100% it sweeps from centre-to-left. If set the amount to 0% nothing happens.

This means that, in order to create a sweep going all the way from left-to-right, I need to set up two automation curves - one for each side. This seems a little unintuitive to me. Is this the way automation in SC is supposed to work, or is there some bug in the way it is "communicating" the data to Tracktion. Can anyone please confirm whether this is how it behaves in other hosts? Or is there something I'm missing?

Cheers.

And thanks again - despite the minor problems this is one awesome sampler!!

you can do this in sc2 easily with a synced lfo. in the zone mod matrix : lfo1 --> pan . then setup the lfo. done. be aware that sc2 has no parameter automation.

Nice one! Though I do usually prefer parameter automation, since you have far more control, so it's a shame about SC2 not having it.

In SC1 I was also trying to automate loop start/end points, to get some nice glitchy stuff going on. I couldn't get it to sound like I wanted, and it was only when messing around with the panning that I realised you could input negative values for the modulation amount. Still seems a little strange to me that you can't pan from left-to-right using a single automation lane. Can anyone else confirm this?
