My synth brass patch is exhibiting some odd behavior. Every time I load this patch even before I play a note, I notice that level meters are at -24db (approx). They don't ever seem to go below this level. All the other patches I checked from the factory bank work fine. Is something wrong with my patch?

small problem with patch

I can confirm this same behavior on OS X 10.5 with AU Lab 2.0.0. It only seems to happen when using a filter (either VCF5 or VCF6) in the FX section and if the filter is set to LP Vintage. If I switch the filtertype or switch to using VCF1 in the standard Mod Matrix, the problem goes away. It seems to be related to the Resonance with LP Vintage. If I turn the resonance to 0, it disappears, and then reappears with a non-zero Resonance value. I see it start to creep up with even as small a number as Resonance = 1.00.metajack wrote:My synth brass patch is exhibiting some odd behavior. metaljack, I modified your preset a teensy bit. I fattened the sound and added aftertouch to mute the bass as well as using ENV2 for the filter and resetting ENV1 for the channel in case you want to adjust the sound shape later. If you want to fix your preset and keep everything else the same, just copy your settings for VCF5 into VCF1, and rearrange the modmatrix to look like:
Code: Select all
[ OSC1 ]
[ OSC2 ]
[ VCF1 ]

Interesting... might be that "LP Vintage" can evolve into a dc offset situation when no input is being fed... must investigate...

It is a DC offset...sometimes goes away and you have to reinsert the plugin to see it again. (This L7 beta has put me in the habit of automatically testing everything wierd, instead of making my own musicUrs wrote:Interesting... might be that "LP Vintage" can evolve into a dc offset situation when no input is being fed... must investigate...
