Well SampleMoog still uses the SampleTank engine but the engine itself has been modified to be able to do Moog-like things. You may not have access to those elements to program yourself from the module, things like internal sound shaping and different curves for things but there are all sorts of different things under the hood. In some cases though you do get access to some new things that come about from the creation of a SampleTank-based instrument. For instance the new portamento curvers in ST2.5 I think have something to do with the fact that this was something looked into for the purposes of emulating the Moog legato... but in ST2.5 you can even do more.

Regarding the filter, it's just tweaked to sound like a Moog but it isn't a fully modeled Moog filter from the ground up. It's all still built off of SampleTank technology. But, anyway, the results are good which in the end is what matters the most. The combination of the source sound being recordings of the real thing and running through this fat analog filter makes it sound remarkably close to the original. At the same time you can go far beyond with Stretch and built-in effects... but that's what I mean by hybrid.

OK, I must be missing something but I don't know what.

I have been trying out the SampleMoog demo presets from the IKMM site. I like them a lot.

On some of them changing the Filter Cutoff knob seems to have no effect. For example, the Jarre Arp 02 preset. Has the control been deactivated or what am I doing wrong?

Also, the the SampleMoog instrument folders contain pics of the Moogs but these do not show up in the ST2.5 browser panel. How do I get them to show (the pics for instruments in the Expansion Tanks show up correctly)? I've already tried copying the .bmp into the Images folder and editing images.txt but no success yet.

Yours, slightly perplexed.

I bought SampleMoog for a very good price at the marketplace a while ago and did not get into it at first when plaiyng around with it.

(i must add I bought it as an IK Multimedia product. I hope it's the right thread ?)

btt:
Only when I started using SampleMoog when songwriting I found it's true value.

What a remarkable thing, I will use so many of the included sounds for my tracks, beautiful :)
I also dig the effectsection, it is really nice and can change the sounds a lot if wanted.
The interface however, it completely sucks regardung the usability. Difficult to read the writing and the mouswheel doesn't help when moving through the soundbank.

But the sounds themselves....hmmm...yummy good, they all sit so well in a mix I find.

This is good stuff with a lot of depth and value.

To my taste there is too few varitions of sounds i mean some kind patches what are possible with moog i fully sure are missing. but there is few very nice sounds and few nice are sampled way too few notes. But i getted this with total workstation 2 i not angry but if i buyed only samplemoog i think is not very usefull at least to me when i look price.(mainly in Minimoog and Moog Modular sounds)
