You've heard a bee trapped in a cow?S.HUSH wrote:I am commenting with what I hear. To me it sounds like a bee trapped in a cow, to others it sounds like a mosquito...if you have an issue with what others hear...too bad.2. you've made very similar comments about my pieces. if you're going to keep doing your schtick, please get more creative. take the oscar wilde route; at least his snubs are smart and funny.
I am not here to "be creative" with my comments and please your funny bone.
...and as far as Vurt's music, i happen to like some of it. He made a very beautiful and relaxing piece of which i commented on a while back. I even attempted to do something in that genre but my CPU couldn't handle it. Vurt was nice enough to give me tips.
Where do I find that sample library?

I enjoyed it, I liked everything from the second half on better than the first half but the track as a whole was very good. I could tell that the whining sound at the beginning is a violin or some form of bowed string instrument. Great work vurt, thanks.

OK
while I tend to agree with 'if it's not helpful, can it if you can't be clever enough to be entertaining', I have to say that both the 'insult' and the rejoinder are from taste judgments, and there is going to be a wide range in such a jernt as this one.
I too was nearly entirely alienated by the first bit, as it looked like it was going to be a LONG selection, and, well, it develops very slowly doesn't it? 'It's just a poor bee trapped inside a cow', to me might be a valid critique of this opening.
It does reveal a compositional mind, at the end of the day. Rather a long day, though, in my view.
I do like the sort of combed noise that might be loudspeaker feedback. There are clearly those who are attracted to the sounds I don't care for, which are like being stuck in a laundromat with 6 video games, and the brown acid isn't going to wear off anytime real soon; and they've too much *Periodicity* for me; IE: it's unpleasant.
Which may not be a valid aesthetic judgment in this context (which am thick and muddy waters to me; that said, time for more Nescafe methinx).

You're a little strange one. You have sent a few PMs of praise, which i do respond to, but they could be posted in the gossips as opposed to PMs (and one or two were quite random non musical related IIRC). Now you seem bothered by my comment even though others have made like remarks. It's like you are some little girl demanding my attention or something. I could be a bit paranoid cause i am unsure if you do this to others "naturally" but.....rachmiel wrote:then it's working.S.HUSH wrote:I am not here to "be creative" with my comments and please your funny bone.
.....bugger off already. You're annoying.
Seriously, if a sample library with "strange nature sounds" existed, I would see what i could come up with using it. Google time......botkiller wrote:You've heard a bee trapped in a cow?

sorry, but i don't swing that way. i'm just calling you out ... for junior high-school level insults masquerading as your 'feelings' or 'critique.' graduate to high school (or beyond) in your comments and maybe they'd be useful.S.HUSH wrote:It's like you are some little girl demanding my attention or something.
after you post your rejoinder (you won't be able to resist) ... let's stop, okay? this is, after all, vurt's thread. if you want to continue, pm me.

this feels like a mood piece ... a sonic video of vurt inner space ... a long introverted journey (made perhaps under the influence of this or that organic molecule?). ;-) i like the narrowness of palette. it's like a study in gray tones (with a bit of color thrown in here and there). the sounds themselves don't hold me spellbound, but the flow, how it sits in time, speaks on me.

thanks all.
jan i agree somewhat, diversity makes things interesting and if i thought for one moment anything ive done is going to be accepted in the same way by everyone who heard it then id truley be mental. i know im an outsider, and im quite happy to be there. no desires to be anything but creating so thats what i do
rick, think of it as a couple of mins of what goes through my head, tangents aplenty

vurt, I hope you take a critique such as mine in the spirit it's meant. I see talented and sensitive musicians making things harder on themselves with, hmmm, a stance, an outsider stance, but they post things - in a hope to communicate. ?vurt wrote:thanks all.

or is it just for strokes. If you are creating just for yourself or for a tiny loop of 3, 4 people who 'get' you, and this is enough, I am saying too much.
It's just that a whine, that I can't tell at first isn't just sloppy audio, and some scratchy fiddle for half a minute, that takes almost the entire time for the listener to even discern a shape, then only because she is trying strenuously to...
as I did say, it reveals a compositional mind at work. To wit: I liked the stretched intonation the second listen; at first it simply sounded like someone disrespectful of string technique, sort of nose-thumbing. that's not because I am so very conservative, the context led me to that. In short, I had to work hard to get anything out of it.
Now, did I work that hard because I fail to appreciate diversity?
Or might it be because I wished to communicate with you.

i meant diversity in tastes more than in the track.
but yes for me the idea is to communicate, to communicate how i see things, if people get it great if not, well does it matter? not really, theres a lot of stuff i dont get which is widely accepted as gppd music, just means again that diversity in taste plays a part.
i have on many occassions risen to the comments and retaliated with some sort of track wgich has all the markings of western musical composition ideas, structure, melody, rhythm, its not something that makes me happy and there are people who are better at that than me, so id rather listen to them
disrespectful of string technique
never, more in this case an audio representation of my feelings after a news report. i find it difficult to express my feelings in words, without either offending someone or miscommunicating it and causeing some argument, more cathartic moments in audio than musical entertainment.
and yep i can take critique, my initial response to shush was probably understood by him in the spirit intended. like i said i have no illusions that the majority of my output here is going to have a wide audience, a lot of the time im just experimenting, at other times i refine the bits that worked into meaningful pieces.
like i said, i just enjoy the creative process

first, I am approaching auditioning other music (yes, taste is unavoidable), as an object, first and foremost. And I was referring to diversity of tastes, and possibly an implication that mine is less than fully inclusive, because I was critical (read: uncomprehending).vurt wrote:i meant diversity in tastes more than in the track.

disrespectful of string techniquenever,
second, if you read my post, I said I did like the sort of in-between intonation the second time around, that on first audition, the context led me to think, he's having us on, or giving the finger. or, it's just humor. which, if more succinct, I'm with you.
and this is probably my final effort here with you on the subject, beyond it I'm harping, head directly into the brick wall, sans any primrose path: 'if people get it... if not well does it matter?' seems to me to have assumed a stance, that equals: 'If I fail to communicate, the failure is not in myself'
where, on a level playing field, it tends to be more a fifty/fifty proposition.
in sum, I'm pretty sure I got it, I just thought it possibly a hasty post unless you were looking for feedback. maybe it's like a club, and I don't know the style of etiquette.
