More like a PC with keys, knobs, and a soundcard attached.

Actually, it goes beyond that. Its a total solution right off the box. It comes with tons of sounds and synths and its optimized for live-performance.

#9 for newcomer like Sylenth1 is great but there are many things which must be changed in the future. Like a presetbrowser and other improvements with the GUI.

I absolutely think Sylenth has the potential to reach the top 5 or even top 3. The only problem with it right now is that its a little under-developed in terms of features. Add FM, osc sync, more modulation routings, maybe easier PWM and make a MacOS version, and I think the software will become more popular still.

I don't mind the simple ADSR envelopes and straight forward programmig - that's one of the strengths of the synth, not a weakness. I hate multi-stage or hand-drawn envelopes for example - it really slows down the music making process and in the end doesn't sound that different from a standard ADSR, especially when Part A and Part B has an env each like Sylenth.

For my music, modular synths don't make sense either - When working with such plugins, I usually find myself imitating common fixed/semi-modular synths anyway.

The Top10 video was one of the reasons I finally ordered the synth despite being short on cash, with the christmas shopping and everything.. bet there'll be a christmas special now, just because I already bought it
