Hello,

MU.LAB beta D is ready :)

This new beta focusses on an easy user interface for the modular MuSynth and MUX: The Play Editor.

On top of this, there are quite some nice improvements and fixes!

Cheers,

Jo

Hi Jo!

-Still hanging notes on short chords on both my Mac G4 and my intel Mac Mini.

-connecting a WFT oscillator to a rack in the plug area instantly activates it (it plays continuuosly). Resetting the Realtime engine doesn't help.

-you can't quit the application via the Apple menu.

Running very very smoothly on my Mac Mini. I can even load musynth patches (lol) :D
It's so much better than on my G4.

Haven't tested anything else yet, I'll post some more stuff later! :)

Hi Jo, all - I haven't seem Mulab since Luna 8.3 and I have to say "wow"! Quick newbie question: can I access the Mux editor - I seem only to be able to see the Mux play editor. tia

Post

open Mulab - in the plugs area select the "base" object - select "embed" from the contextual menu - then "delete" from the contextual menu - confirm and MuLab crashes to the desktop. OS X PPC.

semi ... as you're using a Mac- what type of controller do you use with Mu:Lab and can you play fast, chordy stuff without getting hanging notes? Is that on 10.3 or 4 ?

Did not recieve beta :(

Thank you Jo :D
I have done as promised and tested Firebird+ V1.9 many ours yesterday and today and it works fine now :D

1 bug found while testing.
If you record the filter cutoff from Vst's from the gui it shows up as a "?" in the auutomation lane.

With beta A and B it was named Cutoff and not "?" (I have tried this with 2 different vsts).

Same with doing vst automation with the mouse in the pianoroll, it only show standard midi controller options and not vst's parameters like cutoff etc...

If I select a note in the sequence editor (where two notes start at the same time), its velocity bar isn't brought "to the front" in the lower pane. Which is a pain :P.

Another point. The pencil tool is somewhat inaccurate about selecting the velocity bar - I'll frequently have the tip well inside one bar and dragging adjusts an adjacent bar.

If I add or delete a connector in the MPA, it doesn't always update the display until I click something.

File, New, F3, Delete the racks, New plug, MuSynth, connect to Audio out. Connector line not drawn. Click MuSynth. Connector appears.

Related? -> Deleting a "Plugin" plug doesn't fully update the MPA, either. The box is left behind.

Even though a VSTi in highlighted in the MPA, playing my keyboard wasn't triggering sounds. I had to right-click-focus the plugin.

Hi Bonteburg 10.4.9 - I have a very old Yamaha KX-88 and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. That said I have only done very little playing - will test further over the weekend. cheers

coolio, thx semi! :D
Looks like you're using proper MIDI then and no USB (can't test with old school MIDI here).

---------------------------------
Some observations:

Good stuff:
-You can now load an empty preset into Crossfady Loopsynth again! I still get a dialogue but no crash.Good! :)

Real bugs:

-The old 'no midi keyboard on first run' seems to be back? Interesting though, what constitutes a first run? First run after quitting it?

-deleting an ADSR envelope in the plug area whilst it was 'targeted' resulted in a neverending beachball ie hangup. Obviously it's not something you should do I guess :D ..but still..

Quirks and strangeness:

- I get an unnecessary 'recording too silent' dialogue after recording with my MIDI keyboard.

-When you mix a sequence down to audio and add the audiofile it doesn't seem to get assigned to any one rack. Maybe you should change this, the way it is it's a little opaque I think, especially when you want to apply effects etc.

unimportant stuff:

-I spent little while trying to find a device to chain two synths and I have to say I much prefer 'Dummy' to the rather technical sounding 'Patchpoint'. It's more likeable I think nd in keeping with MU.LAB's image.

That's a pity to hear :(

There has been killed a bug that could cause hanging notes when playing very short notes on your keyboard, depending on the buffer size of the audio device.

But so it seems that the hanging notes that you get were note caused by that bug.

:?

That's normal.

An oscillator always makes sound.

If you want to trigger it with your keyboard, use an Amplifier and ADSR to "envelope" the sound of the oscillator. Make sure the ADSR event input gets notes in.
-you can't quit the application via the Apple menu.
I'll see what i can do.

Press the TAB key.

Sorry, this isn't clear yet, you're right.
