Then midi recorded into soundcard/host track.
What this test showed, was that the audio recorded into cubase was almost perfectly in sync with the midi data of the same signal.

- Drum triggers played
- Into alesis DM-5 drum triggered sound module
- recorded drum samples audio to cubase audio trk
- recorded midi output from same module to cubase midi trk
- Results ;
- Timing difference not even close to being noticable. 2.5ms difference.
Soundcard set to 1024 samples/44.1khz

The drums are different...but you get the idea.
Again I did this to show that drum triggered modules to midi in themselves do not cause any more latency then audio input...for practical recording applications.
Guitar midi convertors will not give as good a timing result. From this test it seems the guitar convertor generates latency from the convertion of sound...reading a sinewave, analog signal then turning it into midi notes.
The conversion with triggered drums only needs to read an electrical spike to switch a midi note out, much like the keyboard.
The guitar convertor needs to read frequency also ! This might be where the extra time goes. Shame.
I have the Roland GI-20 guitar midi convertor. I'll do a similar timing test and post that here for what its worth.
