When the triple click doesn't work (Trilogy on Receptor)

I guess it will teach me to read instructions before I start clicking.
I have a receptor running 1.6 and am fairly happy with it so far. Managed to install a couple of plugins and tried trilogy this evening...
The supplied plug in (which I understand is not needed) did not work (as expected), but when I performed the 'unsupported' way of moving the .dll and .dat files to my receptor, I keep on getting the message 'could not find the .dat file' when I try to access trilogy.
Whats worse...is that I had managed to run the installed and get it authorised ! Just the once though - now when I try to do this I get the .dat error.
Trying a triple click to clear everything doesnt seem to work, as I still get the .dat error when I try to use Trilogy - or even try to re-install the .dll.
If someone who has successfully installed Trilogy could point me in the right direction re: file locations (I know its just 2 files - but I've followed the instructions on Plugorama with no luck) and how to ensure any traces of the old install are gone I'd appreciate it.
I've got the Trilogy DVD and of course it works fine on my PC, so I don't believe its a media issue.
I have checked the log files under 'reports' on the receptor and its looking for the .dat file in the 'failed installers file' But even when I move the .dat file there - no luck !

the dll is in \\Receptor-1\Hard Drive\Program Files\VST Plugins\Unsupported Plugins\Spectrasonics\Trilogy
the dat is in \\Receptor-1\Hard Drive\Samples\Spectrasonics\Trilogy

thanks
Mark
