glottis is currently a 1st order mass-spring, which i think i will stick with.. useful enough and "already uses enough cpu." synthasaurus fed an amp-modulated 'glottis osc' into the kl tract.. this is coupled, which is why it gets gristly. am could be applied to pressure or membrane tautness and potentiates 'pitch tracking' with the right settings.

Thanks, xoxos. Very nice stuff, as always.

----Very interesting stuff, I hope you can find even more ways to control the sounds. :)

in the demos i'm only tweaking one tract parameter at a time, with a sine lfo hooked up to three destinations.

there's a pressure slider and low passed white noise for breath. the user model will have a full complement of modulators oc.

another example:

no modulation, just a pressure constant applied to tract (5-segment kelly-lochbaum tract, reflection coefficients to model transmission area..) moving slider for 1 segment at a time..

..final model will apply numerous correlated modulators to tract, so won't sound this mechanical unless you want it to.

maybe the most human sounding so far.

God, these are freakish/creepy.
I like it. :)
Keep up the good work. :tu:

pretty fun.
I used FL's speech synthesizer to vocode some creepy results :)

once modulation is hooked up it should do more than cry..

a tiger growl and a bear? using grouped modulation routing so sounds a bit more natural. oops file goes on for a bit long.

Brilliant. This is sooo gonna be used and abused here..

I was too depressed this afternoon, I was afraid to listen. Now I'm better, I can't wait for this plug to be published, I'm sure it'll help for my own personal therapy.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

I gave Sounds of Nature honorable mention. Now with this new plug coming out, I am REALLY liking this "Nature" direction.

You should make a "mechanical nature" plug in: Chainsaws, drills, klangs etc.
After all, sounds of industry are a form of nature. :D

i have repeatedly requested a description of a gasoline engine in terms of physics, eg. sequence of events. i figure it'd be ~easy to eg. resize cylinders, emission cylinder length, enclosure filter et c. and make a simple, flexible motor instrument.

i realise it's something i could research.. i have better things to look after ;) so left hand, right hand.

also proposed more 'simple physics' phys models.. eg. something that applies friction to a spring-mass.. could make say finger on glass squeak or chair dragged on wooden floor..

..the sounds of our real world as instruments.. the vocabulary of our life... i completely understand.

:p

I may have posted this already, but this guy obiwannabe uses pd to create generate his own sound effect environments, and on one of the pages he describes building an electric motor.

Some of his pd stuff is amazing - I think you two should get together and take over the universe with your real-world sound effect generators! :) Having said that I think he works in the games industry (his latest paper was on convincing footstep noises).. maybe that's where the money is for this kind of sonic exploration.

loving your work :)
