Hello,

MU.LAB Public Beta has been released :)

Here you'll find the public beta zip packages for both OSX as Windows:

http://www.mutools.com/mulab/beta

Install & Run

1) Unzip the proper package for your platform to a folder on your harddisk
2) Open that folder
3) Doubleclick MULAB

This free beta version can use up to 8 tracks,
and will expire on 21 December 2007.

But before then, MU.LAB PreRelease will be available, which can also open the files saved with this public beta.

Thanks!

At this point i want to thank every one who was part of the closed beta group, for all your feedback, suggestions and patience regarding any development quirks.

Thanks for making MU.LAB grow!

Cheers,

Jo

I'm have trouble trying to draw a new sequence in a new session. I can make a new sequence in the demo session because it gives you the option of the other sequences or a new one but in a new session I draw, it asks audio part or sequence part, if I pick sequence part nothing happens. I can get the audio part. I have been having trouble with my mouse double clicking on it's own so it could just be me but I did get it to work in beta D. I use the windows version.

Thanks for menu option for play or edit editor. I didn't find where it said "tab" switched them until the most recent email and hadn't had time to post so that is a definite help but the tab is nice too(maybe that noted to side of menu option).

I like how the master rack is setup in the demo, I do that too. It would be nice if the solo and unsolo rack had a "+ master" because when you solo a rack that is output to a master, the master is muted as well.

That's all for now. bedtime.

Cheers!

Damn, right

Will be fixed asap!

Euh, not sure what you mean..?

I just tried a doubleclick on a part, and it opens the editor.

Is it there that you notice something?

Yes, good idea!

True, all "other" racks are muted;

Will try to find an indepth solution...

In the new demo track, should "Tempo Synced Delay" in Rack A switch between Play mode and Edit mode with tab when opened? There's no Edit mode on the options menu, either.

No, the Stereo Delay is a dedicated internal effect and only has a Play mode.

Same for the MuVerb.

Okay.. . I wasn't sure: the display flickers when you hit TAB as if it's somehow trying to respond...

Sorry, should have been more clear. The double clicking is a problem I'm having with my mouse in general, not with Mulab. I was just putting that in because I wasn't sure if the "no new sequence" was the program or my mouse going wacky.
You've covered everything.
Thanks, Jo, I'm gonna go play with it some more especially that synth.
:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Hey guys, if you make some nice patches for the musynth and want to share them via the library, let me know!

OK, Public Beta B has a neat solution for this:

When solo-ing a Rack, any Racks that are receiving output from the solo'd Rack are also unmuted ;)

Now this brings me to this question:

If a Rack has a Send to another Rack, should the send also be included in the solo or not?

Post

My initial instinct is to mute the sent-to rack... but to let me un-mute it without breaking the solo (that is, if I then toggle solo on/off, remember how I'd last had the send). Is that going too far?

My initial reaction was to say "don't un-mute the sent-to rack" -- this solution is a little more sophisticated and seems sensible.

Hey, Jo, where you going with that gun in your hand? sorry, cheesy joke you've probably gotten 100 times,

seriously, I'm playing with the musynth, alot of fun but I'm starting to dig into the editor and I'm a little intimidated. I'm mainly a guitar player and I'm somewhat familiar with the different things but I don't really know what I'm doing so here are a few thoughts... I haven't found a "new" or "clear" to be able to start from scratch in the editor, is there something like that? another thing that might be nice would be some template patches, like some very basic patches with very few adjustable parameters that may not have the best sound but are good for getting your feet wet and seeing how the different parts work together. and then maybe some patchs that are good for setting up specific sounds like a percussion template, organ template, flute, bell, etc. that would have the main plug-ins hooked together and then some others disconnected by the plug-ins they might work well with. Also I think it'd be nice to have an arrow or something to page through the patches as a sequences is playing in addition to the point and click and maybe a drop-down for the patch browser.

On another note, curious about the pronounciation of Mu in the product name, is it Moo like moo cow or myu like music?

Thanks,
Dave

Ok.

DaveL60 chooses the same, myself too.

The send itself doesn't have a mute, but it's about the receiving rack, which you indeed can un-mute if you want, but it's not that this is tracked in the solo-operation.

Wah, not yet that many times :D

It's a great track, like Jimi's music a lot!

Yes, in the Options menu -> New.

Well, that's what the Patch Library is for.

I know the current Patch Library still is a bit thin, only 34 patches, but this will grow.

Each and every patch in the library can be used as a "template" to build on another patch.
Also I think it'd be nice to have an arrow or something to page through the patches as a sequences is playing in addition to the point and click and maybe a drop-down for the patch browser.
When the Patch Browser has keyboard focus (just hold your mouse over it for a moment), you can use the arrow up/down keys.

But maybe visual up/down button could be handy too. Will evaluate this.

MUsic :)
