42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life.
42 is also the number of Supernovae studied in order to get a more accurate picture of the universe.

42 UP is an innovative film by Michael Apted.
We could play this game all day.

Hehehe, use oscillators instead...ehdyn wrote:Yeah, the dual cyclotron pretty much kick started this whole revolution in modulars.
I think it's just two loosely coupled LFO's + a master LFO. Not entirely sure, but I can reproduce it's control signal output by mixing 3 LFO's at different frame rates.
I'm meanwhile at more than 10% per voice per 3GHz Xeon core. And yet two filters and the lfo to come... (meaning, each module is damn expensive to do at reasonable quality...)

Oh... I forgot one feature... very important though:
Did you notice the little "holes" between the two delay channels on each side? They are right next to i.e. Filter controls (Cutoff1 - Resonance1 - hole - Cutoff2 - Resonance2)...
These are XY-controls that control i.e. Cutoff (up/down) and Resonance (left/right) of both channels simultaneously, preserving the relative distance of each parameter... very useful, very fast... almost makes MFM2 an easy-to-use plugin

Oscillators really?
Thought it was just coupled LFO's. Apparently the Dalek, and the Vulcan are useful as audio sources too.
IBM, and Intel are both researching optical connections for processors.
Maybe you can do translucent light connections instead of patch cords. That would be cool to position mirrors around the synth for connections, with opacity determining signal strength.
Yeah, it's a dumb idea - I just lke going off on tangents.

Wow, what screen do you have urs. I can't fit that screenshot on mine (and mine's big!)
Also can't wait for the mfm2 final. It's my most used effect at the moment. (and I can use some extra presets for it, because I really don't know where to start programming it)

I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting to read the manual on MFMKyran wrote:Wow, what screen do you have urs. I can't fit that screenshot on mine (and mine's big!)

Oh... my bad... I got teh wrong quote... I was just answering to "one lfo is isn't enough"... but in the end there's not much of a difference between an lfo and an oscillator. If the osc has a switch for i.e. host sync, it would be a shame to put in more lfos instead of real oscillators.ehdyn wrote:Oscillators really?

Actually, Howard and I had just had discussions about either light pipe connections or patch cords in flavours of strawberry, raspberry or banana...ehdyn wrote:IBM, and Intel are both researching optical connections for processors.

I'm thinking of anti-vampire connectors. You can't see them directly, you can only see their mirror image. Thus they're only visible as reflections on the shiny parts of the panel, but not hanging in front of the important bits (knobs, labels)...

Uhm... there is a basic one here:
http://www.u-he.com/mfm/manual/
I'm still writing and have to add some details.
But describes a lot of the functions already.
Best

I guess if everythings running at audio rate then yeah, the point is moot.
Personally, I like strawberry and Banana mixed together.
As for the anti-vampire thing - well that's just incredibly brilliant, like something a 7 year old would come up with!

Not true! It was strawberry, lemon, lime or orange jelly!Urs wrote:Actually, Howard and I had just had discussions about either light pipe connections or patch cords in flavours of strawberry, raspberry or banana...

Thanks Hans! I'll give it a read.wonshu wrote:Uhm... there is a basic one here:

And what about them compressors?
I'm sorry... but I think we have to do the screenshots again... but now we can create them at the right scale... details can easily be zoomed up and stuff
