Oh... I forgot one feature... very important though:
Did you notice the little "holes" between the two delay channels on each side? They are right next to i.e. Filter controls (Cutoff1 - Resonance1 - hole - Cutoff2 - Resonance2)...
These are XY-controls that control i.e. Cutoff (up/down) and Resonance (left/right) of both channels simultaneously, preserving the relative distance of each parameter... very useful, very fast... almost makes MFM2 an easy-to-use plugin :hihi:
;) Urs
Urs,
I am not seeing the holes which you are refering to. I believe I have the most recent version of MFM2 which
has the compressors. Is there a newer version?
Thanks wonshu for the manual as well, it helps alot.
Cheers,
Scott

As I understand, these two don't track to 1Volt/Octave very well, so while they can be used as an audio rate osc, they don't work in a very musical way. For this reason I think it would be cool if all the oscillators (LF and AF) as well as the filters in Urs's modular supported key tracking with a simple multiplier switch to control freq ranges.ehdyn wrote:Oscillators really?
Thought it was just coupled LFO's. Apparently the Dalek, and the Vulcan are useful as audio sources too.
I'm a big fan of modules such as the Serge VCS (a Bananalogue copy can be found here http://www.bananalogue.com/vcs.html ) which can serve as a number of different functions simultaneously.

Check out the images of MFM2 on page 4 of this thread. I don't believe that version is available yet.rexlapin wrote:Urs,Urs wrote:Oh... I forgot one feature... very important though:

Ok, pretty much sussed it out.
Meta information is put on top of the patch format. That way I don't have to load the whole thing to extract the info. I've never been convinced of "categories" and stuff (that's for the patch ordering in folders), so it contains 3 textual information fields:
Author: Uhm, doesn't need a word
Description: Say something about the patch, what do you associate it with
Usage: How to handle it (MIDI etc.), what material/style to use it on
Whenever you save a patch, these three fields can be filled out, below the text box for the patch name. The Author field is naturally pre-populated with your registered user name. As a codex, a tweaked patch by someone else will have your name separated by a comma from the original author.
#---
Currently this information isn't used anywhere. I want to make it visually available when browsing patches, when uploading/browsing patches on the future u-he user web and on other places... we'll see...
Later,
Urs
P.S.: I've finally officially proposed! Which was about time, two weeks before the wedding, huh?

Oh... I forgot one thing... Favourites
Hmmm, I guess favourites are most usable in a synth rather than an effect... I guess these have to wait until MFM 2.x then...
So I got it all going on AU and VST Mac. There were some major hickups here and there. Naturally. But now it's ready for a boot into Vista

First of all Urs, congratulations on your proposal (I hope she said 'yes' by the way!Urs wrote:Oh... I forgot one thing... Favourites

Secondly, a favourites feature would be a great feature to add, especially to zebra when a huge library of sounds can be built up.

they don't track 1V/Oct (an exponential ratio) at all - they're linear oscillators (so-called Hz/volt):justin3am wrote:As I understand, these two don't track to 1Volt/Octave very well
more info
And Urs, very excited about these new developments. Suffice to say that you already have my money

Hmmm, thought the Win version was just a recompile of the Mac VST... but it isn't... I get skins to load and resize but d'oh... it crashes after a while... there must be some nasty something in there... somewhere... *sheesh*
Will find it though.
Urs
P.S.: Yep, Grrrl said yes. She better did, because wedding was already set for the 27th... this month
- we just hadn't had time for a proper proposal...

It looks good it looks good it looks good
Crashes seem to be gone. Editor window resize works where tested...
Just filling in the meta info missing on Windows (gotta extend the preset save dialog) and a facility to utilize that info...
Wednesday or Thursday seem to be good candidates for a release of MFM 2.0

Congrats on fixing those problems, Urs. Are you planning on releasing anything else in the near future?Urs wrote:Wednesday or Thursday seem to be good candidates for a release of MFM 2.0
