Drum machine in Receptor Komplete?

I don't find a drum machine pattern sequencer in Receptor Komplete to drive Battery. Any suggestions about an easy way to make and play drum sequences in Receptor?

Thanks,

Chris

I don't have Receptor, but I have KOMPLETE 4. I assume that REAKTOR is in there. If so, there's a ton of different sequencers in there.

My personal favorite sequencer for Battery is the drum computer in Kontakt Experience. I don't think that this is included in the current Komplete 4, but for me at least, it was worth the extra cash (under $100 USD).

BERFAB, could you elaborate, what exactly does the drum computer do? Does Kontakt actually send MIDI out? Thanks.

The Kontakt Experience drum computer is a Kontakt 2 script that contains a 6 part sequencer which defaults to a basic General Midi drum setup, but can be customized if needed.

So you can essentially program your drum parts into KE (as a script in Kontakt 2) and then load any of the 100+ Battery 3 kits into KONTAKT.

What's really cool is that you can get completely different sounding loops from the same pattern with different Battery kits, or your own custom Kontakt kits.

It's a really useful tool.

Also, if you need more than 6 drum parts, just load up more drum instruments in Kontakt. So 2 instruments will give you a 12 part sequencer, 3 instruments will give you an 18 part sequencer, etc.

Also, the KE drum computer can also adjust the tuning and volume of each individual triggered sound. Pretty versatile.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, BERFAB, I never paid attention to the Kontakt Experience Range. Can you trigger different loops too? i.e. have different sections for chorus and verse e.t.c.

The sequencer doesn't care what's loaded in Kontakt. If you have a kit loaded in it, it will trigger the drums. But if you load in, say, a brass instrument, the sequencer will trigger that.

Loops would be tricky to trigger only because the sequence is typically only a measure or two long, (although you can chain them) so long loops would be difficult, I think. But you probably could do it.

BFD lite seems to do the trick. you can dedicate one channel to the drum machine (where you can adjust tempo, drum sounds, rhythms, etc) and still have the other 15 channels dedicated to your other plugins.

there's a free 30 day trial you can download from plugorama.

i just started working with it yesterday. so far so good.
