Turn UAC off. A lot of programs don't deal with it very well. It can solve many of your Vista incompatibilities.

Nevermind, me stupid.......... :-o wrong serial

Cannabis,
its either a rights issue or you just type the serial wrong. Make sure you copy paste it (if you got it delivered electroically), or register it, when its a boxed product, so you can be sure you read it right from the sticker in the box.

Good luck

Notice the post before yours, Peter. It was a wrong serial.

Peter:

I have Cubase 4.1 and had some problems with Cronox 3 tonight. Since I just moved to a Mac Pro and updated to Cubase 4.1, there's been a lot of reinstalling and updating. I run my Mac Pro on OS 10.4.11.

I have two VST's that have loaded into Cubase: "Cronox 3" and "Cronox 3 Stereo." Don't know why I have both. They are both reading as Cronox 3 version 3.5.

I initiated the "Cronox 3" instrument tonight to see how it worked with the new computer. I went to the Pads bank, and something didn't sound right. Finally, there was a huge bolt of distortion which sent my meters into the red, so I shut it down.

I also think that VST had the old GUI.

When I turned on "Cronox 3 Stereo," I did not have any distortion, it showed the newer sharper GUI, but something still did not sound right. It didn't sounds as "full" as I was accustomed to hearing the instrument.

Drew, can you recheck the GUI? I've just double checked the installer and it's ok, both CronoX 3 (5.1 version) and CronoX 3 Stereo (stereo version). The reason you have both installed is compatibility with new Cubase 4 instrument tracks which support only stereo instruments.

Can you also tell me, which preset caused the mentioned distortion problem?

Thanks, Palec

The two plug-ins with similar names were confusing. If one was labeled "5.1" and the other "stereo," it would be very helpful.

I seem to recall that the distortion came from a pad preset, but I do not remember the exact one. It may have also been on the CronoX 3 (5.1 version) VST.

While I was checking the CronoX3 demo in Cubase Studio 4.5.2 , I have found that it crashes Kontakt3 everytime that both are in the same project . Is there any known way to sort this ? . It would be a pity for me if I have to give up on CronoX .

Cheers .

This is just to state that the problem is fixed and that the culprit was not CronoX ... nor Kontakt ... nor Cubase .......... let's say it was the butler ...

Well, thats a clear description. But good it went away! Thanks for the feedback !

Well , if you want another clue , my handybook for VST's crashes would begin with those two questions :

A) : Is your computer on ? .

B) : Is your plugin the same version than your standalone ? .

That's what my butler should have checked first .
