Ok, since I started that other thread about Tony Banks, and just to show how proud I am to be a Receptorite, I'm starting this fun little thread. Take a shot of what is on YOUR receptor and share it!

Hello, I see that you have some Arturia plugins and Philarmonik. How have you installed them?
Thanks
Miguel

Hi Hyber,

I'm curious about Gladiator -- Did you ever get this going? Can you use the editor in Receptor? If so, what did you need to do to install? How well does it work on Receptor?

Thanks,
Kevin L

Nada, it plays fine and can load FXP's I installed (I used the Wusik tool to export them in bulk, at least the whole PAD bank). But if you try to see the GUI...poof. Reboot time.

Wow, I can't believe you are not using Trilogy and Zebra2!?

I've almost bought Trilogy a few times. I tend to use the same kinds of sounds for basses all the time, though, and I have them covered with other things.

Zebra2? I dunno, I think I've got synth overload lately ;-)

Feel free to comment on the EastWest stuff.

I'm about ready to order Colossus, and the composer's package (Gold & XP Symphonic, RA, Symphonic Choirs, and the Bosendorfer).

It was either that or the IK Multimedia Total Workstation until I found out the IK stuff (Sample Tank 2.5) doesn't really work on Receptor anymore (unstable based on your FAQ).

I bought the over priced Colossus and found it to be just mediocre. There are much better plugins on the market today. Ivory's German Grand and Italian Grand blow the Bosendorfer away, by far! I have heard the Symphonic Choirs on Receptor and they do sound pretty good. Too bad IK does not play well with Receptor because their effects like T-Racks sound great. I have heard from friends that RA sounds great and is very playable. Sometimes, you get what you pay for... and then sometimes you don't!

Colossus is running $385.00 currently. That was one consideration.

I really liked the guitar demos and some of the horns. That doesn't mean they are usable which is why I asked.

Wow, they have surely reduced the price. I think I paid $900 for it a couple of years ago. A lot depends on your standards for sound quality. My standards are very high. Music magazine's standards are very low because they don't want to alienate manufacturers (they advertise and pay for the magazine). I rather have 3 good plugins with 10 great patches than 30 plugins with 5,000 patches. A couple of plugins that I consider exceptional are: Addictive Drums, OP-X Pro, Zebra2, Z3ta+, Ivory, Atmosphere, Trilogy, EWQLSO, Minimonsta, LL3 and B4II. I seem to use Ivory, Zebra2, Trilogy and B4II the most because I mainly focus on jazz. Everybody has their favorites of course. I hope that Muse gets Real Guitar and Real Strat working in the future. The same goes for Waves anything!

Another quick thing: I hear from friends that Garritan's Strat and Cello are the cat's meow. If you are looking for a good virtual trumpet, take a look at this demo: http://www.samplemodeling.com/products.php

i, too, recently purchased colossus and was not blown away by it. i am trying to move COMPLETELY away from hardware synths, so the good thing about colossus is that it covers all the bases, but as far as quality, i don't think it is on par with my hardware synths. some stuff is good. most is ok.

by the way, how do i paste pictures into my post? i want to includes screenshots of the plugins i have installed. i have the jpg's; just not sure how to get them into my post.

thanks.
