The Receptor Pro I bought last September boots up and crashes. I can't play a single note. Sometimes the power button fails to turn it back on unless I turn off my surge protector and then turn it back on again. I can rarely log onto it via Samba.
PLEASE HELP!
I called Tech Support and left a message but I'm afraid they could be closed on the weekend (I have a gig tonight!) I have the latest OS and installed the crash log as soon as it came out. I tried reinstalling the crash log and it fails.

Hi TSH,
Sorry about the crash. I'm not sure what you mean by reinstalling the crash log - the crash log is just a file that the Receptor OS posts messages to when something unexpected happens.
What you are describing sounds like a power-supply issue. You might wish to try it on some other (less loaded) plug somewhere around your house. But if it fails when plugged into a surge-protector/line-conditioner, and it fails just plugged straight into your wall, it may be a faulty power-supply in your unit. You probably won't be able to do anything about that for your gig tonight (Really sorry about that), and you probably need the unit to be analyzed by Muse.
Regards,
Kevin L

LooneyTunes,
I sincerely appreciate your reply. The constant crashes just started happening.
I tried your suggestion of using another outlet, but it doesn't even boot up to the OS.
The crash log I'm referring to was the update that Muse issued a little while back preventing the system log from exceeding 32mb.
If I'm lucky, the unit will stay on for 5 minutes; then I hear "click" and it either crashes, restarts, or shuts down.

Yep sounds most likely like power supply to me. Are you in the USA?

I had one of the old Receptor versions and It died just as you described. It was the power supply and I had to ship it back to Muse. The power supply wouldn't have taken so long but, I had it upgraded to PRO version at the same time, so it was not a quick fix. I shipped it to them January 30th and did not recieve it back until March 21st.
Mine died in the middle of a gig. Fortunately, I was using my Kurzweil 2600 as a controller and quickly dialed in a usable patch.

Oy.
How a basically brand new receptor ship with such a stupid problem? That makes me doubly mad. I spent so much on this thing, I couldn't afford to buy a backup synth.
MUSE, way to keep your customers happy.
1) Inability to manually install new VSTs?
2) Faulty Power Supply?
Now I have a $2400 unit that does nothing.

I understand your frustrations but please remember that Muse don't make the power supplies themselves and cant do much about a faulty one occasionally. Your obviously well within your warranty and you can be sure they will do everything possible to get you sorted out asap...

Contacted Muse,
They are sending me a new Power Supply to manually install. I should have it by Thursday and will post the results.

I received the PSU today. I've made all of the connection except for one. What is the proper way to connect the PSU to the motherboard? There's one connection to the motherboard that supposed to be made to the left of the hard drive that I'm not sure of.
Thanks guys.

Got it installed properly. Everything works like it should now.
BEWARE: Supposedly the Furman PL-8 Series makes Receptor Pro's PSU work much harder than it should. Be careful.
