I am updating the LUNA tutorials created some time ago to feature MuLab. At the moment this work is underway and I will advise when new pieces have been added. Nothing has yet been posted, but I expect something to be in place before year end.

The subject will be MULAB Free Beta C to start with. These tutorials are created for a local music group, but should apply to a wide audience. Both WIN and OSX will be covered.
That's great news :)
I agree. That's a good tutorial. I've referred people to it many times.

thank you for all the help here.

i have not responded sooner because i didn't find any corresponding emails letting me know of responses.

the tutorials, both original, and the one by jpump, are helpful but they did seem difficult to me to flow through. jo has mentioned in another subject that MUTOOLS experience should and can be fun. that is the key to understanding. fun - flow - understanding - using the tool.

i found, as a newbie, with no courses taken about digital music in any past at all, that the combining of Windows and Apple processes in the tutorials did not ease this Apple user into clarity and fun.

to offer a very simple view of possible confusion, i offer this small example:
jpumphandle's tutorial:
"VST modules (for the PC) are delivered in the form of a .dll module."
you keep reading forward and there's no mention of a Mac delivery system, as something different from the Windows .dll.
just this one thing puts a sudden grey area into the reader's mind, a hesitation,
which allows the student to begin to
expect unanswered areas.
the more dischord one finds, the less understanding is possible.

again, with all due respect and gratitude to all,
you have forgotten the mind of the first-time user
and how important it is to make the initial experience
flow clearly.
there are those people who love the engineering side,
there are those who love the free-flow jamming side.
these are two different kinds of people
who might want to use a program like LUNA or MUTOOLS
to play music with.

i think these tutorials are capable but not very "playful".
and am hoping that somehow tutorials may be split into
either
Windows or Mac oriented people/systems,
and a more playful presentation could be followed by the first-timers.

again, i point to the LIVE/Ableton "lessons" as a source here.
they are clear, you follow the steps, you get a result, and you "play"..
there's a palpable feeling of fun in the lessons.

on the other hand, i DID put up an improv guitar jazz piece on the Cafe, the first one, that i, as a newbie still, can enjoy the thought of having made. it's a wideout great feeling but i can remember the pain.

less pain, more enthusiastic users..

I appreciate the suggestion towards improvement of the tutorials. I will add some more details about downloading and installing VST modules on the MAC which was overlooked.

Most of the function within MU.LAB for PC and MAC is identical. The idea of making separate tutorials for each could possibly add clarity to the operations on each platform. However, the task of maintaining two copies of the tutorial could be increased significantly as MU.LAB becomes more mature and little change is expected in Platform controls. So with my limited time available for making future changes, I intend to keep the tutorial as a single thread for both platforms.

If you have some more specific additions, changes, improvements for the MAC platform, I would appreciate your continued suggestions as I would also like to make the learning process flow more smoothly. Any areas that are not clear to a first time user should be strengthened. You can PM me if you want.
