Did you notice it uses a dongle? Oh well, at least it is an iLok, so there IS some chance it will get receptorized, but it's never going to be user-installable like the un-dongled IvoryPhilAiken wrote:Muse,
Please, please, please make this installable on Receptor as soon as humanly possible when it is released. Please!!!!!!!
Thank you,

I demoed the uprights at NAMM and they sound very good! However, I currently use the German D10 and the Italian Grand... How good can it get!? Why would anyone want something other than those two pianos?

There are times when an upright is an appropriate choice. A nice "character" upright that functions as well on Receptor, and plays as well as the other Ivory pianos would definitely get some use from me.PhilMuller wrote:I demoed the uprights at NAMM and they sound very good! I digress here, but I have to say that I don't seem to be as in love with the Italian Grand as alot of other players. I still prefer the Ivory Steinway.
The midrange of the Italian seems a little muddy to me, and a little more "phasey" in mono than the Steinway or Yamaha....This could very well be a case of the tone not agreeing with my stage amp as much as the other pianos. I have yet to try it through my studio monitors.

I have to agree with you on your choice of favorites. I also think the Ivory Steinway has a better sound. In my home studio I use Yamaha NS10Ms driven by my RME Fireface 800 and QSC power amps and the sound of the Steinway is incredible for all types of music. The Faz is more mello, but doesn't seem to have the reality factor like the Steinway. I spent 3 hours the other day at NAMM playing a real Fazioli 278 and although I love it... it is almost too perfect for playing jazz. The Ivory samples (as good as they are) don't seem to capture the actual acoustic sound of the real 278 as played in the acoustic space that I experienced at NAMM. I guess sound is subjective and depends on the shape of your ears. An interesting point that I have noticed (and I have really good ears)... is that Ivory sounds better and more realistic in my studio played from the Receptor through my NS10Ms than it did at NAMM... and they used large Genelec speakers.PhilAiken wrote:There are times when an upright is an appropriate choice. We are looking into this. The upright samples i think are ilok wrapped as well, which may be a hurdle in getting this receptorized sooner than later.

Hey, new user here, I just got my pro Jr in Dec and have Ivory /Ital grand, starting to learn my way around this, I wanted to ask someone using similar samples, is there a pedal I can use on my Roland, say a double pedal where one would be a soft pedal? Is there such a thing? Been playing the different Steins and Itals all day, and a soft pedal would be nice....Ive seen double pedals, but would it work with say, the left pedal as soft, right as sustain? This would be icing on the cake actually....PhilMuller wrote:I demoed the uprights at NAMM and they sound very good! However, I currently use the German D10 and the Italian Grand... By the way, once I start playing the Rec w/these samples, I cannot stop..hopefully I'll start taking it to gigs soon...
Thx, A.
