Hey Urs!
Is there any plans to update Filterscape? It's been literally the only filter plug I've used since you released it, and I still love it! Just wondering

Urs is in LA right now for NAMM 08 so his posting here is intermittent. He did post a message about this over in the Improvements! thread.
He also has said he plans to migrate FS to the newest user interface that can be seen in MFM2. It will allow for gui scaling and possibly patch information to be stored.
I'm looking forward to it too! I'm interested to learn more about the alternative EQ and the updated SV Filter he mentions in the post above...

Oh Sweet, thanks a bunch
Jeezm, I think I saw a 'linear/minimum phase EQ' mentioned in that thread! I really hope that goes into this update, but then again filterscape already rocks as it is, so anything extra is just candy.

The new EQ plugin (if it happens right now... it may come later) is basically gonna be one of those A/B matching type eqs with 2 x 8 snapshots and the snapshot dial as known from the other members of Filterscape. We're just trying to bring down latency to a usable amount. We're not yet sure if and how well it works, but I guess there's gonna be a prototype soon. Might be called "FirScape" or FilterscapeFIR if we stick to the scheme...
The new SVF modes are custom built filters that sound insane. The prototypes use well over 25% of my cpu *per mono instance*, but I think that George is gonna bring that down dramatically. SSE2 or AltiVec will be a requirement for using these. It's insane. Sweeping with a lot of resonance and extreme distortion sounds like PWM. Really. They're creamy, smooth, phat and, uhm, just right...

Nope. The new design for instance isn't stabilized for self oscillation - it would rather explode than make us happy with a nice sine tone. The main purpose is "mangling arbitrary audio", so it's not as sensitive to volume jumps and stuff as the XMF is.kodama wrote:I hope the new FS filters won't make us hate on our XMFs!?!?
They are two different beats... and as I said, maybe we manage to throw in an XMF as well, but it's very hard to achieve the SVF structure with these... we'll see...

As a Filterscape user I have not the slightest clue what you're talking about, but feel a wonderful feeling in my brain like my brain would jump into an elevator, up to the 127th floor, and come back, a sssssssssshhhhhhh... So I may qualify for the "he's a guitarplayer" option rather than for the "he is in the know of every synthesis method and knows every option of Filterscape"Urs wrote:... Urs
Anyway, I like the thing as it is, and as usual the next version, as always with u-he, will even be better than this.

I guess you are technically 'the man' now
Would the FIR pluggie be a purchase add-on, or for all Filterscape customers? Doesn't matter either way, I'd buy it anyways. Filterscape is nasty. I just started to work on a large soundset for the bundle - or should I wait until the update to continue? Decisions, decisions! Great work Urs, have fun in LA. Get some pics of Britney Spears for me while you're out there

Can't help out with Britney but I've met some really cool guys. I just hadn't had my camera with merlahalla wrote:I guess you are technically 'the man' nowWould the FIR pluggie be a purchase add-on, or for all Filterscape customers? The new thing is gonna be a free add on, but the price is gonna jump up slightly for new customers (hehehe). However, not sure yet if we'll make it.
For patches... woah... sounds like you're on to something, but I'd suggest to wait until the preset description and everything is inside. This will be a major plus especially for fx.

Sweet. I can tell you that our release will encompass everything included in the Filterscape bundle. So don't put too much new stuff in there! J/k of course.
Damn though, I was getting ready to see britney pics, but noooo...
