i experienced and recreated some awful error:
when you want to set up your audio, Mu.lab ask if you want to stop the audio engine
when Mu/lab is not running and you say yes, Mu.Lab crashes
when Mu/lab is running there is no problem...

Anyone that can reproduce this issue?
Maybe it's a vst plugin specific issue.
You could try unloading vst plugins 1 by 1 and see whether the problem persists.
