Oh, there is actually, cause the knobs have different functions on different screens. I have an EX5 keyboard version.DevonB wrote:That's a thought. Not much to twiddle though with 6 knobs and one jog shuttle wheel.bluelife wrote:Yamaha EX5R .. old and cheap and twiddly too

Don't need it, already have it essentially for my Yamaha PLG150-DX card. I don't need sounds, I just want a fun synth to play with.tranel wrote:OK, what I am about to propose will most likely not be what you're looking for... but here goes. The TX81z. Seriously. Get yourself a good software editor (with midiquest everything can be automated inside your DAW, I think). It's dirt cheap and does basses and leads reeeeeally nicely, not to mention bells, pads and keyboard sounds.
But, yeah, you NEED an editor for it.

I've used an EX5 in the past. I'm looking for stuff like this -bluelife wrote:Oh, there is actually, cause the knobs have different functions on different screens. I want the full interface in my face, not buried in menus.

Not so advanced... that's mostly old school Moog modules, with some Dotcom thrown in (Q-119 sequencers).DevonB wrote:Erik Norland's Dot Com modular.|Diablo| wrote:Anyone know of the most advanced hardware synth module out there, minus the Nord Modular series.

There is the radias, just got one for a trial, worth checking out, fun, but sounds too digital for me... you have lots of knobs, arp + step seq + mod seq... very good usb integration... nice clean punchy bass, dreamy arps/mod seq textures....
I prefer the sound of an evolver but the poly evolver rack has too few knobs..
Go for the Future Retro XS!!!!!

I've thought about it, but it's also 4 times the cost too right now. RADIAS is $999 (or $875 for a rebox at Nova), or about $250 on Ebay for the MS2000.... Hmmm...Hellrider wrote:Forget the Korg MS2000 - take a Korg Radias in your rack and you have about four times a MS2000.

They just announced that their MSRP will be $2499, which is a drop from the time of their initial announcement last year. I'll be getting a unit in the next week or so to help with the more twiddly bits of the user's manual, so it looks like they'll hit the streets fairly soon.
Check out their video demos on their site to see if it fits the way you imagine working for you.
