I'll second this, if SC2 does what you need (some things not quite finished..) then it's a fine drum sampler, all the weirdo mangling you could ever want (if you eber, y'know, feel like doing that someday... :))

howsabout Grizzly from last years dev challenge?

edit: ignore, didn't see the second page of posts...

Have you tried Poise?

It's still a beta at the moment but it's already the best drum sampler I've ever used, and free (while in beta).

I was waiting for Poise to come up!

This is what you are looking for, hands down. While technically still a Beta, it's working just fine overall, and an update is due out soon as well (hopefully). It will be a commercial release when it's finished, but as was stated at the moment it's free.

It has a built-in browser or you can d-n-d from your sequencer's browser, and in addition to ADSR for every pad you get pitch envelopes as well! Seriously, this is what you want - check it out!

Dr. Modus was released for the DC

and really it works very well so far :)

same thoughts about Guru here...tried it..like some of the bits, but i found it pretty intimidating, tho really inspiring, on paper at least, for the features...slightly too pricey for my taste either

and i underline again what Blortblort said...
Disorder is just plain quick fun on breaks..i could go on hours tweaking breaks with that one, just plain lovely..
:)
about Poise: i wasnt aware even that was a drum oriented plugin..i just happened to step on the homepage right last night and grabbed down the zip..thx for the heads up

The only limitation of Poise at the moment is that you can't stack samples on one pad and have them play "layered". I've mentioned this to Shannon, and hopefully he'll work this in, as well as control for the velocity split. But of course, you just assign two (or more) pads to the same note number/output, and there you go!

I have Guru also (as well as just about every other damned piece of drum software), and while I do like it a lot, I have my issues with it as well (workflow, crappy built in effects, no way to hide the sequencer, browser could use some tweaking).

Honestly, the big winner for me right now is Live 7's Drum Racks, but of course it's limited to Live users...

Where does one download Poise? :)

Post

It's here.

I continue to be really impressed with Poise, I've deleted all my other drum samplers because it does everything I need already - and still in beta!

Have a look at ravity R

A nice little drum sampler.

I'm feeling perhaps a trifle ignorant here, but have to ask: why is this particular feature such a show-stopper requirement? I wouldn't have thought it critical for drums...

heya :)

i shape accurately the individual drum sounds to fit them in the arrangement..
for instance i may have a need for cutting the decay of a snare layer since i could need either only the initial part of the sound or the final one, or for instance cutting a kick tail doing too much boom in the low frequencies field that may cause a clash with the sub or the bassline...
hihats either are a part i heavily shape into the drum sampler if possible..
hope this clears up what i meant ;)
