Dealing with sequences.

Hi,

I am a Mu.Lab noob, so bear with me. Three questions:

I create a sequence and want to repeat it" four times. What's the best way to do that? Copy and paste, or?

I create a sequence and repeat it x times. Then I want to edit one of the repeated sequences. If I do all of them gets edited. How do "uhook" the one I want to edit from the others so I can edit only that one?

And finally. I have two sequences coming right after each other. How do I "merge" the two into one?

Other than that I've found that Mu.Lab and Shorcircuit2 together is an unbeatable combo if you do sample based music. It's like they are made for each other. Both are simple and good looking, and both can do much more than you think they can.

Make sure you're using the arrow cursor and press Control while click-dragging and you have your copied sequence part.
If you want an independant copy, then press Shift also.

I'm not sure about merging.

But remember you have the documents at hand in MU.LAB (go to Help, Read Documentation) and at the Mutools site.

EDIT: Oh, and you are defininately one up on me... I surely couldn't consider Shortcircuit easy. That thing boggles me.

Thanks! I think the Mu.Lab manual is quite good. I have it printed out for reference. But those three I couldn't figure out. Looks like merging isn't possible.

Maybe the reason you find Shortcircuit2 complicated is that you are used to other samplers? I am not, so the whole concept of Zones, Parts with FX on top comes easy for me. And I love they way you use shortcuts to add sample libraries. Just like Composition, Part, Sequence and Rack with VST on top works in Mu.Lab....kinda...

Hmm. Possibly. Samplers have always been my weakness. I think I get along with sampler players fine though, being as they're so simple.
I'd like to learn more about it, though.

1) drag part while holding control = copy part (will use the same sequence!)

2) drag part while holding shift + control = copy part (will use a new copy of the sequence!)

3) you can always rightclick a sequence part and choose "Duplicate Sequence". This will make a new, independent copy of the sequence

And finally. I have two sequences coming right after each other. How do I "merge" the two into one?

Not yet in there. It's on the whishlist though

Thanks! I have actually learnt most of Mu.Lab in one week and can do songs without major problems now. Amazing! I spent a month on the Sonar 7 demo and finally managed to lay down a track. Too much of a good thing isn't always wonderdful!

I can't sing, so it doesn't have vocals yet. I'll get that on there this weekend. Then I'll let you hear it. Masterpiece? I didn't use that term, did I?
