Best Service Galaxy II piano library (Steinway D / Bosendorfer / Bluthner) with new sympathetic string resonances. www.galaxypianos.com

Has anyone tried this plug-in on Receptor? Does it work? Is a Receptor installer available or being planned soon?

It's predecessor called Galaxy Steinway 5.1 did have a Receptor installer which can be found at http://www.plugorama.com/customer/produ ... t=0&page=1

Would be interested in anyone's experience of this plug-in, especially on Receptor...

Looks like Galaxy II is a "Kontakt2 player" based instrument, so there is hope it could work unsupported, as long as you have the NI Service Center app installed to authorize it.

Haven't some other people out there gotten other recent Kontakt2-Player apps to work?

According to Galaxy II user manual pdf, (downloaded from their website) when you install Galaxy II software out of the box, it will install the necessary Kontakt Player 2 engine and prompt you to install the NI Service Centre application too, which is all included with it.

You need this anyway, to authorize Galaxy II for normal use on Windows or Mac, otherwise the 30 day grace period will expire and the Galaxy II won't keep working until you've fully registered it. (Your personal ownership is identified by the unique long serial number which came with Galaxy II box and was needed when you first installed the software.)

So far so good.

But how do you install it onto a Receptor?

This method is basically the same as for its predecessor Galaxy Steinway 5.1 for which you then needed the unique Receptor installer (a free 5.33MB download from www.plugorama.com) to allow your Receptor to use the product with its own Pace iLok dongle authorization method, as well as any necessary updates / patches to make that particular VST plug-in run smoothly within Receptor's proprietary operating system...?

If for example, "Best Service Artist Drums" plug-in, and "Best Service Galaxy Steinway 5.1" plug-in, and "Best Service Chris Hein Horns" plug-in all have their own unique Receptor installers, then I reckon "Best Service Galaxy II" will need a unique Receptor installer too, before it will work properly.

Otherwise, if two different products shared an identical player engine (eg. Kompakt or Kontakt or whatever) why would they need different Receptor installers? How is a Native Instruments playback engine installer going to authorize a copyrighted 29GB Best Service sample library to work? I feel there also needs to be somthing from Best Service themselves that allows Receptor to use their software.

Sorry for the long post, I'm a bit confused here...

You best bet is to probably wait until Muse creates an official installer for this, and given their relationship with Best Service I have a feeling they will.

In the meantime, you could PROBABLY get this to work as an "unsupported" install as long as you have the NI Service Center on receptor already. I have gotten plenty of other NI products (Like Kontakt2 a long time ago, and Massive just recently) working on Receptor as unsupported in the past...don't know why this one would be any different. This method isn't for everybody though, and often requires a lot of trial and error, digging around, mucking in the registry, root access via ssh, headbanging, and frustration....with NO certainty of success.

Again, best bet is to wait for Muse to create an installer!

Well, I don't yet own Receptor or Galaxy II so I can't try anything myself.

I'm certainly not gonna buy a Receptor Pro 750 until I know it can actually run the products I want to use - the other product I especially want is Garritan Authorised Steinway D, which is supposed to be officially released tommorrow at Winter NAMM 2008, priced $399.

We've yet to find out if that is Receptor compatible either, although Garritan and Muse have co-operated in the past. Now Garritan is using a graphical image as the unlock authorisation key, which you drag n drop onto the player. There's a thread on their forum.

Obviously, we can keep waiting for Muse to produce an installer, but Galaxy II was released last summer, so the wait is already 6 months and counting.

Aren't you still waiting for 4Front TruePianos to be Receptorized as well?

If you compare Modartt Pianoteq for instance, they made sure their product was Receptor compatible themselves, very shortly after its release with a downloadable version on their site, rather than waiting for Muse to get round to it. That's how all companies should do it - no wonder Muse has such a backlog of plug-ins to deal with and installers are a very long time coming!

The Muse goal of using Windows installers directly on Receptor will hopefully alleviate most, if not all of these types of complaints/problems. I think they just cannot keep up with the flood of soft synths and updates that are constantly being developed. I hope we will hear something about 2.0 in the next few days from NAMM - I've heard that it (2.0) is rumored for a March completion/release. As a year-plus Receptor owner, I understand the frustration. Though on the plus side, I still regard my Receptor among my best instrument purchases ever. I use it almost daily, either at home or on gigs, what it does (even without the constant keeping up with the latest and greatest) is terrific.

Well folks, the official answer from Muse Research, which I got via email today was...

<QUOTE>

Galaxy II Pianos is not currently supported. It's on a list of plugins we
want to get running but I do not have release date. Please contact me with
any questions you may have.
